The damage modeling itself in this game no doubt is fricken awesome, but the immersion for me is lost due to the fact that there are no paint scrapes or dirt marks or anything to show the car is getting banged up and dirty. While we have all this sick soft body deformation, the cars still shine and sparkle like they're brand new and perfectly clean, and of course realistically speaking, this would not be the case. I've also scoured the mods list thinking someone may have made a mod for this by now but no such luck. I didn't find any past info about this so I don't know if this has been talked about before or perhaps is something already being planned, but this would go a long long way in adding to the realism and immersion of this already fantastic game.
Scrapes and dirt marks have been suggested over a million times for the past 7 years, and I don't see any way that it would be realistically possible to make within the next 2-3 years
its been shown "possible" using similar methods to the windows i think and it's been demo'd by a couple users, but it'll never be proper and it'll probably just be better to not have than to have a dysfunctional scratches method
scratches are easy to do even with a mod. Add a new part containing many individual pieces of glass with a scratched texture when damaged. This mesh will be applied to the top of the car. if you remove the particles, the game will definitely not freeze.
It would be incredibly buggy. Like when a car crashes and the trim goes through the body, the same would happen to this. If you can prove that it can be done easily then go ahead.
если вы привяжете новую деталь к сетке jbeam и заставите ее также деформироваться. тогда все будет хорошо
Tiremarks on Roads ---> Tiremarks on cars when metal-metal --> Retexture "Tiremarks" --- Post updated --- Glad this thread is back, let's hope it works this time ;D
I really don’t understand how people manage to repost the same thing so many times. Do they not think to look if their amazing idea has ever been discussed before?
Before misinformation inevitably gets posted here too (like every ideas thread) The way this is typically done in games is using a texture called a scratch map It's a texture that's based around the vehicles UV map, that is painted with scratches. When the car hits a wall, this texture is blended with the main one. It's not impossible, but it's also been suggested many times without a BeamNG developer response.
American 80's Fullsize Series has a configuration in which if you crash, the paint drains and there is rust underneath.
