Are you playing on a laptop? If so, I experience the same thing - it's called heat throttling. Your laptop gets too hot so it downclocks the CPU for a few seconds.

    Francais (yay Canada and bilingualism):

Est-ce que vous jouez sur un ordinateur portable? Si c'est le cas, je ressens la même chose - il a appelé la limitation de la chaleur. Votre ordinateur portable est trop chaud, donc il downclocks la CPU pendant quelques secondes.

thanks for answer , yes i play on a laptop but no i dont have problem of overheating , i can run crysis 1 on high in full hd at 40fps :)
i think it's just a problem of graphics optimisation.

Crysis 1, a game which barely touches the CPU, BeamNG on the other hand absolutely hammers it

Get a temperature monitor, see what temps you are actually hitting (both CPU and GPU) when the FPS drops.
The other one, check your laptop isnt in a low performance power plan.

thanks for answer i just update to the 0.3.3 and it's more stable , my temp are for the CPU 90° and 80° for the GPU to my experience it's not a high temperature for a laptop.

Well, I feel like 90c for the CPU and 80c for the GPU are too high. What model laptop do you have?

Is it normal to see your clothes on fire too?

Not a high temperature??? Even 70 should be cause for concern. Thermal throttle kicks in big time by 90.

Yes 90° it's no to high for a laptop CPU, max temp its 105° all laptop heater like this.

I have several laptops in this house.

105 is actually the thermal MAX. Not normal. Absolute max, point of no return exploding max. They start to throttle by 75.

if 105°C is reached, the cpu will shut itself down.
So it tries to prevent reaching this temperature. First by using the fans, then by throttling the frequency.
Which is exactly what you experience.

    Laptops have different throttling points.

My laptop, before I messed around with the throtting and stuff, would throttle at around 70C but wouldn't actually shut itself off until about 126C. (I found that out by accident. Now it runs nice and cool.)

if anything that reiterates its a temperature problem as the latest updates have a lessened CPU load.

At 90C you have gone well beyond the thermal throttling zone so that was most definitely the issue. Prolonged runtimes above 70 are known to cause long term damage.

When a manufacturer quotes a max temp for a component, you dont want to be even approaching it. 105, a normal x86 bios shuts it down at 100. The only time you want a temp that high is on one of the industrial temperature range parts which depending on model run to 125 or even 140.

I'd start by clearing out your fans and any filters to ensure maximum cooling.

    - - - Updated - - -

the chips themselves are rated for 105, the industrial range components are only rated for 125 (or 140, and a few models actually *REDUCE* the max temp rating), a compliant BIOS shuts down before tMAX

I should mention this is on current gen haswell parts, other product lines may vary, but 80, 105, 125 and 140 all seem to be pretty standard values across varying processor types (not just x86 even)

I think the Tjmax for my laptop's CPU is around 105 actually.

Just checked, it is 105c. When it reached higher than that that time I think I accidentally shut off Dell's stupid throttling and it reached 260+F before the BIOS decided that was enough. (It logged an event in the BIOS which is why I know how hot it got.) Now that I've improved the cooling and undervolted it the CPU now stays nice and cool even with the fan off.

It IS a temperature problem. The only reason the update fixed this is probably during the update the computer cooled down.

Advice - NEVER let your computer run hotter than 75 degrees. 75 degrees and higher will start to reduce lifespan of the computer
