a train mod would be cool, i always wanted a steam mod on beamng drive there are ones but most are private. i think we need more trains in beamng it lacks train mods it would be really cool if someone was planning to make a steam train

I've done some research once and a guy who made one of the train mods also made a private mod for a steam locomotive but hasn't given it to anyone, he only showcased it on his YouTube. It's probably not possible to get it, and it's the only steam train mod in the game. Other than that you only have diesel locomotives.
Was it chris_lucas? Yeah, he's been banned for well over a year now. And even if contacting him wasn't an obstacle, the model for the train was taken from Mafia II iirc, and therefore wasn't repo-friendly. There are two big reasons I can think of for why steam train mods aren't as popular as diesels: 1. Steam locomotives have complicated valve gear attached to the driving wheels, which can be challenging to JBeam and can wind up a little unstable at high speed (in my experience). And 2. steam pressure simulation needs to be coded from scratch by the user, since vanilla BeamNG lacks any external combustion engines to work off of as a template.
