New Example done all in-game by upping the sky brightness in the editor. If only I could influence the cubemap only instead of washing out the sky. Original post trying to show even on a chrome car the reflections aren't strong enough.
yeah that sucks and all, but it's also pretty awful how much performance it sucks for crappy results for the actual mirrors themselves
It is performance heavy because it basically has to render the scene twice, to get better reflections you'd either have to use ray tracing or the same method as now but for each object separately, both would be even more performance heavy...
I actually think, that the reflections on the base colors are too reflective at default to look realistic..
It's 100% chrome and I guess I didn't do a great job in explaining what I was trying to accomplish. Take a look at the new comparison.
there are plenty of games that accomplish decent quality reflections from a variety of angles without completely trashing performance. ets2/ats, being prime examples.
