Oh man, Bugatti went full ripoff on the Bolide

Looks like they (Bugatti) went all out crazy, ripped the Bolide name from Beamng and made a 2020 model of it! I think this is a perfect time to sue Bugatti and get infinite resources for all future payments to Beamng devs.

Also a perfect time to go the other way around a replicate this thing, within copyright and trademark boundaries of course.., and make a 2020 version lol

It won't cause any problems. Bugatti has better things to do than look into early-access games.

 

What problems? They just use same name. I would understand if there was new Civetta company and they're make Bolide, but it shares only name with bolide, it has different model year, design, and everything else. I know its a joke, but still...

 

Beamng has been using the Bolide name since like 2012. INAL but I'd assume they are pretty safe to continue using it.

I would better translate it as a fast or nice car, for example the sentence "cette voiture est un vrai bolide" could be translated as "this is a really fast car"

 

If there was a car in the game that was a sports car and was called the Civetta Camaro or Civetta Cayman or whatever, that might cause a stir and its the same thing here.

I think i need to clarify that the intent with the thread was not to go and say that Oh No The Bolide Is In Trouble which it most probably iant, i rather found it funny and kinda cool that Bugatti named a new concept the same name as a Beamng fictive model. Dont want ppl to read too much into it..

 

and in our Bolide case, it's not very problematic as "Bolide" is a common french word, but if Bugatti called his car the Civetta it would have been more problematic

I am neither Italian nor Dutch, but I've been told that "Bolide" is a fairly standard term for a sports car in both languages, which I assume dates back a fairly long time. So the idea doesn't belong to anyone.

 

Well, I don't believe bugatti actually copied from Beamng, but still... A supercar company makes a brand new car with the same name- this is a pretty crazy coincidence!
What do you think will come next? I vote for the brand new 2021 Skoda Miramar. Either that or a Peugeot 200BX
