I think the servers are being edited momentarily. So I would like to take the time to say thank you to @The HellBox and @Dummiesman for making this opensource and free of charge multiplayer mod for BeamNG !
Yeah italy is the worst map for my computer to run it on, I really just got my laptop to stay off the home computer because that one is for work. my LAptop is no gaming machine. Anyway, How do I make a server, it says to just run the server thing but then what? --- Post updated --- yes preach
It will generate a config file, you can customize things in there, and decide if you want it to be public If you want people to actually be able to join (regardless of being public or private), you have to port forward in your router
Probably best to Google this to get explanations/tutorials. The process slightly differs depending on your router manufacturer. The port you need to forward is located in the config.json file.
I just played with nocargo and my cousin and it was fun --- Post updated --- oh ok, This is far beyond my understanding so I will just join servers,
How does this compare to BeamMP (or whatever it's called)? Was not impressed by the performancy on my end, and the latency. How about a website for easier downloads and/or server stats etc? I could help with that since I'm a web developer.
Performance is near single player performance Latency, I assume you mean cars weren't in the right places? We have lag prediction that mostly rectifies that. As far as a website goes, @The HellBox will have to answer that.
I just had a quite decent session on West Coast Drag area. 3 up to 4 cars went good with dynamic reflections. Then there was more cars and I sank to 18fps. Also regardless of fps I regularly see cars hopping around like, yeah, hopping. I don't know what the cause of that is Anyway, I think a lot depends on driving style too, cautious drivers tend to make a more smooth experience atm imo.
I’m not concerned for myself, as I have a multi hundred mb/s internet connection, but what kind of internet would you need for this. You’re transferring physics along at 2000 calculations a second, so.
Just tried out this mod with AiTorror and a couple others. Was actually surprisingly great! Almost like playing with in game AI. It does get a liiittle laggy when many players join but that's understandable. when Torror and I joined an empty server it ran flawlessly. Thanks for the time and effort you all put into this!
Ah, the free market does its thing ones again. BeamMP was getting stale and the devs were getting stingy and complacent, so here is someone else with fresh ideas ready to get the market going again. This is fantastic. Keep on at it and i wish the BeamMP devs to do the same. A little competition always makes things better, and who knows, maybe at some point thanks from the competition we might end up with the perfect, dev level multiplayer implementation.
hopefully the same thing that happened with trafficai happens to this. Full dev integration! at the least in the future having the game run off of a server fully and stream down to players would be amazing! You could then have as many people as you wanted with 0 lag.
So, besides being open-sourced with free server files, what other advantages are there compared to BeamMP?
(everything I say is IMO so don't bash me if it ends up being wrong) Arguably smoother experience From what I have seen in this thread, better frames Arguably cleaner and resizable/customizable UI Humble Bundle users don't get labeled as "pirates" Doesn't pretend to be the entire game like BeamMP and actually acts like a mod so there is probably going to be even more community integration You already said this but: Even if you can donate in the future, the latest and greatest features aren't hidden behind a paywall and private servers are free You also already said this but: Due to the fact that it's open-source, people can write in things that could benefit KissMP in extraordinary ways. Since you can collaborate on the project as a community, it has the potential to grow exponentially compared to BeamMP
