TLDR: Intellectual property laws for stuff like this don't have any concern here for many reasons, including: BeamNG can eaaily prove they used the name first, the term is a generic word used to describe sports cars in Dutch & Italian, and intelectual property laws aren't even intended to cover stuff like this since there's no reasonable way to confuse the Bugatti with the Civetta and they are not competing products

Well what mostly got me was that yeah Civetta did it first but it wasn't a licensed brand, it was just a fictional thing that didn't own the name of the Bolide.

 

It's slang in Italian, not dictionary definition

 

The Civetta Bolide is a fictional car in a video game, the Bugatti Bolide is a real car. They don't compete in any way and therefore there's no reason to change either car's name.

 

There're literally 2 vehicles with the same name but different brands in real life, one is the famous Toyota Supra and the other is the Honda Supra (marketed as such in Indonesia, in my country it's called the Honda Wave) and it's a motorcycle sold in a few SEA and European countries.
So with this instance in real life, I believe there won't be any problems at all, both BeamNG devs and Bugatti can still keep the name because they don't directly compete with each other, not to mention one is a completely fictional car and one is a real life full-on hypercar.
