First of all I'm new here so sorry If I broke a rule already. But please give me a chance tl;dr make steering with controller better Recently I've been playing ets2 and ats (truck simulators) and they have a magnificent feature? for blokes like me who uses controllers to play racing/car/truck video games. The way it handles steering inputs. The way it works is as soon as I turn let's say left it doesn't immediately turn left and it also as soon as I let go it doesn't go back to the center. BeamNG uses the same mechanic as if you play Assetto or iracing or any racing game really when you use it with a controller it immediately goes left (or right) and as soon as you let go, it auto centers real quick. Now 2 years ago someone made this very same post on the topic on this same forum but he got misunderstood people thought that he wanted it to lets say he turns left, it stays on the left. That's not really how cars work and that's not what he meant. If you drive irl you would know if you turn full lock and start driving straight and don't hold the wheel it will slowly auto center itself. Basically in ets2 it simulates what I just describe which makes driving a whole lot better. I just wish Beam or any racing games would start implementing such features. I don't want the game to become arcadey per se. I just want it to be more friendly for people like me who can't afford racing wheels. If people have a hard time understanding I have a video ready. Sorry if this post was sudden and rude wasn't my intent. I love racing games and Beam is definitely one of my top. Mouse steering is fun but my hands are too stupid to drive with a keyboard and it makes it hard to control gas, brake pedal (since its a button not like a trigger on controllers) Thats all thx for reading lol.
You can get closer to this effect by changing the sensitivity of the steering so the input is added/removed more slowly. I haven't messed around with keyboard controls much so I'm not sure what the results end up like.
Sorry mate but are you talking about the filters where in a certain speed it starts to slow at whatever percent you set at? or rare you talking about configuration where theirs Angle and Linearity settings is at? Im using dualshock ps4 controller btw. I have already set my preferences which does make it a little better but doesn't solve my beef with auto centering too quick thanks though
