I have searched, but maybe too simple questions to be asked?? ;)

Operating with a XBox 360 controller, can't afford a wheel!

    1. How do I set a different default game start car than the pickup?

    2. When I get stuck in the terrain, say trapped by trees, or in a rock hole I cannot find a way to drive out of, is there a quick way out back to safety avoiding complete restart of that terrain? I have found that holding forward or reverse throttle while also holding car restore can eventually jump it out, but its not a "proper" solution! XBox 360 with default controls used.

    3. How can I include and exclude some cars from AI to make the traffic more suitable for the location?

    TIA..............

    1. How do I set a different default game start car than the pickup?

CTRL + E to select the vehicle you want. After spawning your new vehicle, do CTRL + E again and select "Set as default vehicle" (or something like that) Should be in the top part of the menu.

    2. When I get stuck in the terrain, say trapped by trees, or in a rock hole I cannot find a way to drive out of, is there a quick way out back to safety avoiding complete restart of that terrain? There's a few ways.
Holding the insert key will rewind you until you release the button. This is also a quick way to fix up your vehicle by just pressing it once.
CTRL + R will respawn your vehicle, and select that place as your respawn location.
R will respawn your vehicle to your respawn location.
Home will respawn your vehicle to the first place it was spawned.

If you want to keep the damage, you can also use the node grabber.
(optional: Go to free cam by ctrl + c)
Hold CTRL down, then move your cursor to your vehicle. This will show different places you can grab your vehicle by. Control the strength using scroll on your mouse.
This can be used the pull the vehicle out of awkard places.

    3. How can I include and exclude some cars from AI to make the traffic more suitable for the location?

Pretty sure you can manually spawn up the vehicles you want (CTRL + E > Select spawn new instead of replace) until you get the desired number of vehicles you want.
Then hit ESC, go to the AI menu and select "Start AI"

Sorry the answers maybe not be fully detailed, this is all from memory since I am not at my PC at the moment.

Thanks very much for your reply.

Re my Question 1, There was a reason why I'd not seen the "set as default" and its a bug! If you set the Dark Theme (and I hate lots of white screen so I had), the text for the top boxes is white on white, so not visible!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not THAT much of an iggit for those thinking can he not read!!! o_O

Just tried to spawn a few cars to try the AI selection and it put some way off the road in the ocean! More later.........................

RE my Question 3, yes, that works, too, but it uses the first to penultimate cars as AI, and the last one loaded as "yours", which rather defeats having a "default" you want set since that will be first and become AI, but hey, it can be worked around.

If you press "tab" it changes the vehicle you are controlling. Either you reset the car or stop/restart traffic when you have the vehicle you tabbed to the vehicle you want to drive (can't remember which). I hope this helps, not really by my pc atm to double check. Enjoy the game and welcome to the forums!

as Harkin said, you can press TAB to switch between cars. The one you have selected/are playing with will be the only one excluded from the traffic AI

Thanks All collectively for your help!

All my original issues now resolved, though if any devs are listening, I would much prefer that the default/chosen vehicle was NOT included in the AI unless you force a second copy by choosing it again.

IMO the default the user has set should always be unchanged by the game, only by the user.

Due issues with one laptop crashing I loaded it to a second newer one, one that I try to avoid games on, and that made the crash rate drop to "very rare" from "how many seconds is this going to run for".

Being a glutton for punishment, I have gone back to the original one and played (heavily) with G Card video settings. Over time I have discovered that the partial answer with that set up seems not as might be expected (by me at least) to reduce settings to give the card an easier time, but to increase them.

Why this is so escapes me but I have gone back and fore and it seems quite repeatable!

The card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M running v457.09 of 29/10/2020.

Have not had any issues before with this card, I appreciate its not "new", but its running everything else I have flat out at very high frame rates smoothly with no lag, and crashing was unknown before Beam NG. I'm a flight simulator user, inc FPV simulators, and they rely on high speed smoothness, which up to now has been achieved on all of them (more than 10!) without any input from me.

Currently I'm left with a residual and still too frequent level of BeamNG crashes reporting the GCard has stopped. So far I cannot identify any reason for this, its certainly not when the card is being asked to visually handle a lot, no dicernable link to graphically intense location or high screen updating required.

I'm testing with a game supplied graphically sparse location and default pick-up car, no AI. Nothing I can see that would stretch the card. Puzzling and quite frustrating.

For the record, the other laptop has a NVIDIA Ge Force RTX 2070.
