Hello, could anyone help me with making it work under Linux with Wine? What are the requirements? What are the libs to be added with winetricks?
    I have Wine 5.17 under a 64 bit system:

    Operating System: Gentoo Linux
    KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
    KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
    Qt Version: 5.15.0
    Kernel Version: 5.7.0-sabayon
    OS Type: 64-bit
    Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
    Memory: 23,5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2

    Thank you!

Beam works great using Steam's proton system. Just install Steam, install Beam and play. If you're looking to play outside of Steam I can't help - sorry.

Thanks, I have Steam and the downloaded game from Humble Bundle. What should I do next?

This game only works on Windows-based systems. not Linux or macOS.

it might work if you run Windows virtually. but I doubt very much that you will get it to run in linux

Steam's proton will only work if you have the Steam version of the game.

I'm a big linux fan but if you want to be able to just download and fire up games, windows is still the best choice.

    That is just not true.
You can run Windows apps through a software called wine.
And yes you can install a VM on a Linux distribution.

@msdobrescu I don't really understand why you have gaming grade hardware, but you're running Linux?
Anyway, perhaps you should consider dual booting if you have some legitimate reasons.

As to get BeamNG to work via wine, I can't help with that.

Sure, no problem, I can redeem it under Steam, then what's next?
I am experienced with wine, I just can't find the correct setup.

With steam you don't need to do anything special. Must make sure Steam Play (I think that's the right name) is enabled and install the game

I've played BeamNG on Arch Linux with no issues. I use the Linux version of Steam and use SteamPlay, as I find it easier to work with than the standard Wine package.
Here's what you need to do:
    - open up Steam, go to Settings>Steam Play
    - make sure "Enable Steam Play for supported titles" is check
    - check "Enable Steam Play for all other titles"
    - go ahead and install BeamNG through the Steam store
After these, you should be able to launch it no problem.

And out of context, why do you use Gentoo? Is it any good? I've heard mixed opinions about it but it seems like an interesting project.

    Thanks, that worked!

I have a Sabayon installation, waiting for it to be rebranded/updated to MocaccinoOS, so it reprots it is Gentoo, but will become Funtoo-based.
Sabayon is/was a very easy to use pre-built distro, with a great stability although it's a rolling release and a very nice team! I love it, it's hard to look for something else, but if I need to switch, Arch would be the choice. AFAIK, Gentoo is a Linux, but also using FreeBSD tools. At the beginning, I was compiled Gentoo, the OS building process helped me to understand Linux architecture. In time, I've preferred a pre-built distro, I leave and work on it, I don't always have the time to compile everything.

I have no reasons to use Windows. I am not sure what you mean by "gaming grade hardware", I've thought it's kind of entry level at most. If you refer to the video card, I use it for many reasons, I have dedicated video card even on my laptops, it's just efficient by comparison to the current CPU embedded ones, although I think a computer should have one CPU to include graphic processing too.

I'm happy it worked well for you!
So far I've been happily using Manjaro (since I can't be bothered to fully configure Arch from ground-up again), but I think I'll give Gentoo a try, too, it seems like a good learning experience!

Try Funtoo, it's Gentoo's creator distro.
