as i was playing beam ng drive today i thought to myself, why doesn't beam ng drive have their own radio station's in the cars that you can turn on and off? i think it would be interesting to see like west coast radio 20.3 or soundcheck radio or something like that with funny advertisements about dogs or cars or whatnot. i took this inspiration from GTA. i also think that the cars should be equipped with working dials for the older cars and have it be accessed on the touchscreen display for the newer in game cars. what do you guys think?
I think that in order to do this, they would have to get the music from somewhere, most likely on your device or over the internet, like Spotify, as there is no reason for them to host music streams. Which means that at that point you could just play the music in the background. This has been suggested before, and I see the interest, especially if @TDK could get the sounds to sound like they're coming through different speakers in the car, but I think it's too much work for something comparatively trivial (when compared to UI v3, new content, or career mode).
with the way you currently have to set up modded sounds in BeamNG, a working "radio" would be more of a gimmick than anything. since the addition of interior muffling and fmod soundscapes, the music coming from the "radio" would be muffled in first-person camera mode and played inconsistently throughout the exterior. while the radio in the gavril vertex is very cool, I don't think it would be suitable to be integrated as a stock feature, not to mention the limited selection of music that could be included due to copyright. as for interactive dials and touchscreens, i can't really imagine how that would be able to be implemented with how the game works right now
What about the "radio" mode of music in Light Runner? It changes its sound based on if you're using the external camera or driving from the internal one & I don't think it breaks the immersion when you crash like you describe
