    Hello!
I downloaded the pre-race updater when it was first released. It kept crashing, and with all the activity around that I waited until now to try again. It's still crashing when it tries to download. It successfully downloads a small file and then tries to download the large file and that's when it crashes. I see that version 0.3.3 is now available, but when I go to my downloads page on the website it still shows 0.3.1 version. That's what I currently have installed. The updater is the old version so I get the version.txt error. The pre-race updater crashes. Any other way to update from 0.3.1 to 0.3.3. And is 0.3.3 the same as the pre-race update?
    Thanks!

Just tried the prerace updater again. It started downloading the large file and crashed partway through. See attachment.

    please:

    a) uninstall all beamng copies
    b) download the new setup.exe (470MB) from your order page: http://beamng.com/service/latestorder
    c) install this version, it should download 70MB at most

I uninstalled all of BeamNG, downloaded the latest setup on my order page, and installed from scratch. At the end of the install process it runs the updater which crashes just like before, as soon as it starts downloading. There is now no launcher.exe so I can't run beamng at all. I tried running the updater again and it creates a new updater folder in the existing updater folder and again crashes as soon as it starts to download. I've attached a screenshot of what is currently in appdata/local/beamng/beamNG.drive/ folder. The alpha_prerace folder is full of many files/folders, but again no launcher.

The following is from the update.log, in case that's helpful:

Have you attempted running as administrator?

Wait nevermind, it's installed in your local user folder. Ignore me :p

    No, that won't help.

What anti-virus are you using and did you try disabling it yet?

Using Windows built in anti-virus program - I think it's called Windows Defender. I disabled that and also turned off the firewall during the fresh install attempt, so that doesn't appear to be the problem either. That reminds me, I better turn those both back on! I'll double check there isn't another antivirus program running in the background, but I don't think there is.

    Thanks!

    - - - Updated - - -

So, I turned firewall and windows defender back on. Checked for any "mystery" anti-virus running - there wasn't. And just for fun tried the updater again. Download Metadata was successful, Checking Files was successful, then started downloading - started at 89%, and said "downloaded 1.41 GB of 1.57", got to 90% and crashed. Tried again and crashed at Checking Files at 26%. Tried one more time and crashed at Checking Files at 35%.

Would it help for me to post the latest contents of the update.log file?

By the way, before I tried the the Pre Race Update the very first time I made a copy of the entire BeamNG Drive folder in my Documents folder as a backup. That copied version of BeamNG runs fine right from the Documents folder. Could that moved backup copy be causing any problems with the updater?

    Thanks again for the help.
