Most games that have the option of customization don't have the great soft body physics of BeamNG. It would be cool to be able to customize your car from ground up. The games that do have both damage and customization that I have seen are low in grapgics and the damage is unrealistic. A great example of this is "street legal racing redline." So why not add customization to the game? (of course it might be way later in an update or something) Figure 1: customization Figure 2: unrealistic damage one, two (imported from here) (imported from here)
Building a car from the ground up is probably out of the scope of BeamNG. It's a physics simulator, not Chop Shop 2013 (someone needs to make this). There will be a parts system where various components such as fenders, wheels and engines can be replaced, but I don't think complete builds can be done. We'll have to find out
gabester said there will be a parts system, and he said he would love to do something like SLRR, but he said there won't be little parts like camshafts, valves, pistons but complete engines or larger parts, like a turbo system. I want a SLRR parts system, with every piece being a single part, even valve springs. So I will probably make that whenever I can.
Even if there aren't small engine parts, it will be fun to drop big engines into little cars to make fast, cheap, junky cars. Bolide engine in a Ibishu Covet, anyone?
I will drop a bolide engine in the covet give it some nice rims, spoiler package, and a body kit. Gymkhana all day...
Yeah, but "modding" an engine is far more fun than getting a complete V8. Have you ever played SLRR? You should try it. Also, I know this isn't the same, but I hate having one click upgrades; having a "upgrade" point to spend and see my engine level "2/5", I hate it. Like I said, I know it's not what is going to happen(hopefully.) but SLRR is really fun with the parts.
I hate that "upgrade engine 2/5" stuff too. I tried SLRR and the customization is AWESOME! I see what you mean, although it would be nice to do both - a complete engine, as well as parts if you want.
Assuming the pigeon is fwd, (I have no idea if its rwd or fwd) that would be an insane amount of power for one wheel to possess.... I love it lol
I believe it would be read drive, rear engine, as other 3 wheels cars like the Reliant Robin share this configuration. It would be nearly impossible to drive the front wheel.
Did anyone manage to run SLRR on Windows 8? I can't seem to get it to run and downgrading isn't an option.
YeSS!! The good old SL Redline.. i had so many hours/days/months of fun with that game.. its unreal Sadly it was never a fully finished game, but with the custom (i think 2.3.0LE) patch it was pretty good I spent countless hours in the garage just tweaking, changing the engine parts for more power, customizing the visuals, etc.. i eaven made a "portable" version of that game, so it could run without an actual instalation with all the mods/cars previously installed ...i hope there will be something similar implemented in BeamNG.. Its a fantastic thing, and it can only add to the value!
