How can I upgrade my PC to be able to spawn in many AI cars for traffic?

Title pretty much states it. At this time, I can really only spawn in about two or three cars, and I’d like to get maybe eight or nine cars, if that’s possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Without knowing your current computer specs, it's hard to say. Usually, the first thing to upgrade would be a new Graphics card, then look at the CPU and then the RAM. But before you do all that you will need to upgrade your bank balance.

If you want more cars spawned in at once then a new processor is your best bet. Usually you get about 1 car per CPU core/thread, so getting a processor with 6 or 8 cores would help you run more cars at once.

As others have said, more cores means more cars. BeamNG uses 1 CPU core for each vehicle spawned. I run a Ryzen 5 3600 with 6 cores, meaning that I can have 6 vehicles spawned in at once without ruining performance. 6 vehicles means having my car and 5 other traffic vehicles spawned.

Okay, thanks for the help. My specs say I have a quad core, so I only have four cores, and I am indeed only able to spawn four cars. I'll look into getting a better CPU Core. Thank you all again.

What kind of computer do you have? Do you have a laptop or a desktop?

not exactly, its one core per vehicle plus a few. I have a 6 core i7-8750H and can run 8 traffic cars with no issues.

I have a Ryzen 5 2600 (6 cores, 12 threads) & when I have my car + 7 AI's, the game runs at like 30-40fps on Italy... Not sure if I would call that "no issues" for myself

I have a desktop with BeamNG. Windows 10, not that that matters.

Alright. Then you're good to go upgrade your PC. Make sure the CPU you ge fits your motherboard's socket, though.

8 traffic cars with no issues on a 2.2 GHz laptop chip?

I have 32 GB of RAM, a Ryzen 1700X, and a Geforce 1060 with only 3GB of VRAM. I can spawn up about 7 or 8 cars and still get 40-50FPS. My GFX card isn't the best for BeamNG, and I have to lower the resolution so I still have a good-looking game while getting acceptable FPS.

With a boost clock of up to 4.1GHz. Coffee lake in general is still great for single core performance so it doesn't surprise me.

CPU is the main thing for raw number of cars, but if the rest of the computer isn't to par then you'll still have issues.

Well, unless you wanna upgrade the motherboard too and possibly RAM if you have a CPU that supports DDR3

I’m not so much surprised by the clock speed as I am the fact that we’re talking about a mobile chip here. I’d imagine some sort of thermal throttling would set in at some point, let alone monstorous power consumption.

Indeed, when you have more cars spawned than you have cores, you get to a point when you have multiple vehicles per core, but that doesn't mean it will run good. With my 6 core, 12 threads CPU I can easily have 12 vehicles spawned, but that doesn't mean it will run good. Performance drops down significantly with that many vehicles. I wouldn't call that no issues, either.

If you want lots of cars on a cheap budget. i would reccomend getting an old x58 (lga 1366) dell precision or something like that. I bought one a few weeks ago for £40 bought 24gb ddr3 for £24, a gtx 650ti boost for £10 and a xeon x5670 6c12t for £5. Where it is an old server cpu, it is capable of doing much more per thread. This thing runs 10 cars with no issues whatsoever. All for under £100

My main rig: 10700k and rtx 2060super i can get 20 cars at 40fps

I can run 2 AI traffic cars on an FX-6300, which is honestly impressive. I probably should upgrade to something newer, however, because as my computer is now starting to stumble a bit at everyday tasks.
