game "freezes" immediately on loading level

i can see the underside of the truck a few feet off the ground. the game still responds to F1 & escape inputs as if nothing is wrong but no other command i tried worked. ive recently added a handful of mods, but all of them have high ratings & are common.

anyone know what could be causing this?

thanks, i got it going again (ended up just doing an update) but now ive hit another snag. my wheels detected & i can use any of the buttons & pedals, but the steering isnt recognized. this is from the input map im using:

moveMap.bind(%device, xaxis, joy_steer);
moveMap.bind(%device, rzaxis,"I", brake);
moveMap.bind(%device, yaxis, "I", accelerate);
moveMap.bind(%device, slider, "I", clutch);

on another input map i thought the binding for steering was the same, so im not sure why it suddenly doesnt work when it did this morning.

edit -- nvm, found another map w/ different commands that works.
