Case: spin out leads to crash, October 23rd 2013.

Description: a presenter of a motoring show reviewing a new sports car switched the ESC off while driving around a track- the car was much less controllable without the safety systems, and the driver lost the back end, spinning the car out as he approached a corner. The car then hit a tunnel wall side-on and spun back into the tunnel.

Injuries: the presenter was okay, and in a piece to camera while the car was being recovered he said "well, at least we know it's safe. However, on the basis of what's just happened, I'd recommend the AWD version if you're going to drive it hard."

Vehicles involved: 2013 Hirochi SBR4 RWD TT S.

    Location: Trial Mountain.

Aftermath: the incident had been caught on several cameras, both in the car, on the track and in a filming truck. The footage was pieced together and aired in the broadcast cut of the show, including some from the now-broken camera on the SBR4's passenger side door that caught the presenter saying "without all the e-nannies, you feel every little movement and the understeer has definitely subsided... but it's been replaced with s-oh, s***... it seems to have been replaced with snap oversteer." The car was totalled.

    Case: head-on collision, March 3rd 1998.

Description: an impatient driver went to overtake a smaller car, but did not make proper observations before pulling out and hit an oncoming car while trying to swerve back into their own lane.

Injuries: in the oncoming car, the driver and a rear passenger were both concussed, and the passenger had a broken arm and leg- the driver and the other two passengers both suffered bruising and the driver a broken rib. The driver of the other car also sustained a broken leg and a fractured pelvis as well as minor spinal damage.

Vehicles involved: 1996 Ibishu Pessima 1.8LX, 1994 Gavril Grand Marshal LWB Luxe.

    Location: Italy.

Aftermath: the Grand Marshal was a mafia limousine, and the crash was initially presumed to be a deliberate attack either by police or by an enemy. The less hurt of its occupants got out and immediately started threatening the confused and now terrified Pessima driver, but once they worked out that it was a genuine accident they insisted on reaching an agreement without the case going to court- they did not pay for the Pessima to be replaced, or for the driver's physiotherapy, but did make him pay them protection money in return for them relieving him of any legal consequences.

    Case: head-on collision, November 4th 1958.

Description: two oncoming cars were allowed to set off across a junction at the same time. One wanted to turn left, crossing the paths of the oncoming vehicles, but he was in a hurry and there was a lot of traffic that he would have to wait behind. Instead, his solution was to try and cross before the oncoming traffic- however he misjudged how fast the first oncoming car had set off and they collided.

Injuries: both drivers suffered bruising and mild neck and back pain.

Vehicles involved: 1957 Wilson 250, 1954 Burnside Special.

    Location: West Coast, USA.

Aftermath: the Burnside was totaled, but his insurance paid out over $1000 compensation so he was able to get another car without too much difficulty. No charges were brought against the Wilson driver as his boss defended him, saying "in a way I encouraged him to rush. I called him on his day off and requested his presence in the office be immediate."

Loss of Control: Ibishu Hopper (Sport Special), owned and operated by the driver, Fatal accident occurred September 9th, 2020, in So Cal Nevada Interstate, USA:

(Vehicle as it came to rest)
    • Location: So Cal Nevada Interstate, USA
    • Date & Time: 09/09/2020, 1612 EST
    • Vehicle(s): Ibishu Hopper (Sport Special)
    • Owner/Operator: Private
    • Vehicle Damage: Substantial
    • Defining Event: Loss of Control
    • Injuries: 2 (Fatal)
    • Trip Type: Personal

    - Analysis:
The driver was traveling in his newly purchased compact 4x4 SUV along with a close friend. Eyewitness accounts reported that the vehicle was "erratic" and traveling at high speeds. A dashcam recording showed the Hopper changing lanes at high speed before it made contact with a ditch and started rolling over multiple times. It is estimated that the Hopper rolled over at least 7 times. The vehicle came to the rest on the left side of the highway, facing the opposite direction of travel. Both occupants were fatally injured.

Examination of the vehicles revealed that there were no anomalies consistent with a preimpact failure or malfunctions. Additionally, toxicology testing performed on the driver at the Forensic Sciences Laboratory was negative for carbon monoxide, ethanol, and drugs.

An examination of an onboard speed/distance recorder item showed that the Hopper was traveling at its top speed (108 mph). Evidence collected from the Southern California Traffic Department showed that the driver was very inexperienced and had two previous speeding tickets in the same area.

Based on eyewitness accounts and evidence collected, It is most likely that the inexperienced driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed.

    - Probable Cause:
    • The inexperienced driver's loss of control due to excessive. Which resulted in an impact with a road obstacle and several rollovers.

    - General Aviation:
On September 9th, 2020, at about 1612 eastern standard daytime, a privately owned Ibishu Hopper Sport Special, was traveling on the westbound highway in the southern California-Nevada Interstate area when it crashed into a ditch and rolled-over multiple times, coming to the rest on the left side of the road. The certified driver and his passenger were fatally injured, and the vehicle sustained substantial damage. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.

According to the family of the driver, he was driving his brand new car to show it to his friend. They described him as an "happy spirit, who liked to venture through the world with excitement".

The Ibishu Hopper is a compact 4x4 SUV, featured with a 4.0L I6 engine (Figure 1). The top speed for the Sport Special variant is 108 mph.

    (Figure 1: Sport Special IH)

An on scene examination by the investigator of charge revealed that the vehicle had sustained substantial damage from the multiple roll overs. The front left tire separated during the accident sequence (figure 2).

    (Figure 2, overview of damage)
Further on scene examination of the vehicles revealed that there were no anomalies consistent with a preimpact failure or malfunctions. The vehicles was transported to a secure facility for further examination.

    Case: Multi-car accident / DUI

Description: Eric O'Moran, driving his ETK 1300 was traveling north on a rural highway when he struck a pothole, damaging both the body and the chassis of the vehicle. After hitting the pothole, he continued several meters until he pulled over, just past the crest of a blind hill. Fortunately, he had several cones, which he spread out on the road from the pothole, all the way to his vehicle. However, this would prove to not be enough to prevent catastrophe. According to several witnesses at a Nodeline Gas Station, they noticed a Firwood Transit bus driving erratically towards the same stretch of road. Meanwhile, Stella Brown, driving a Pessima, was heading to the same gas station for a "midnight snack". Behind her, Rowan and Henry Rogers in their Gavril Mione, were returning home after dropping off a friend. All three vehicles met where Eric and his vehicle were sitting. According to Eric, he noticed the bus come over the hill fast and swerve to avoid his car, which had lights and hazards on. The bus entered the southbound lane and struck Stella's car, which was then pushed into the Rogers' car. Eric dialed 911 after the dust cleared and helped Rowan and Henry exit their vehicle. Emergency services arrived on scene about 20 minutes later. Milo Beaumanoir, the bus driver, was treated and arrested on scene.

Injuries: Stella was pronounced dead-on-arrival while Rowan, Henry, and Milo all had minor injuries.

Vehicles involved: 1997 Freightliner FS-65 Shuttle, 1988 Ibishu Pessima Wagon, and a 1987 Gavril Mione.

Location: A winding, rural highway just outside of Firwood, East Coast USA.

Aftermath: Milo was charged with reckless driving, vehicular manslaughter, and driving under the influence, and was rightfully sentenced to 15 years in prison. Rowan and Henry recovered. All 3 vehicles were deemed a total loss. Firwood Transit was ordered to pay for lost wages (due to hospital time), medical bills, and insurance for Rowan and Henry. On top of that, they were also successfully sued by Stella's family for $127,000 for her wrongful death.

    Case: Drunken Night Crash
    Firwood country, June 2 2014.

    Cars:
    Gavril D15, Escar Seoil Egos.

    Description:

Magdalene, 19, invited her 4 friends for an evening at home together. At 00.15 am, Magdalene decided to take them home by car. They took the main road and turned into the forest road. Meanwhile, on the same road, on the opposite direction, a pick-up truck carring a group of 5 male friends was returning from a party. All of them were drunk, included the driver, and they were travelling at about 130 km/h. Suddently one of the passengers for joke turned off the headlights and the driver couldn't see the road, paniked and lost control of the vehicle. When they turned on the the lights they were in front of Magdalene's car and the crash was unavoidable: the pick-up hit the Egos head-on, damaging its fuel tank that caught fire, and rolled over away. The people in the pick-up passengers has no seatbelts.
5 hours later, an old man was going on that road, saw the crash (with egos still on fire) and called the police. The rescuers arrived 10 minutes later.

    Results:
Magdalene and two more in her car died, the pick-up driver and 1 more passenger died, others were critically injured. 1 hour later a girl with horrible injuries was spotted walking on the edge of the road a mile away from the crash. She was the only survivor of Magdalene's car. The crash shocked the entire country.

Case: road rage, December 5th 2018.

Description: a delivery van double-parked to drop some items off at a house while there was nowhere else to park- traffic could not get past, and the first queuing motorist in particular was very impatient. The van driver got so sick of that driver constantly blasting their horn that upon setting off again, he deliberately let the van roll down the hill and hit that car, pushing it back into another. When the driver chased him and attempted to stop him further along his route, he simply rammed the car out of the way and carried on. The other driver then called the police, who pulled the van over once it had almost reached the depot.

    Injuries: none.

    Vehicles involved: 1999 Gavril H45, 2016 ETK 846t, 2010 Gavril Vertex.

    Location: West Coast, USA.

Aftermath: the van driver was fired and charged with vehicular assault, but apart from a fine he received no further punishment as he claimed the initial impact was an accident. The ETK was repaired, and though its driver claimed to have done no wrong he was charged with dangerous driving because he had chased down the van, tailgating and brake-checking it.

    Case: Multi-car accident / Distracted Driving, August 9th, 2020.

Description: Bruno Beretta, a driver for a local gas station chain in Italy, was driving west on a winding country road. The airport being his destination, they were great shortcuts, but they would unfortunately turn out to come with a price. Driving the opposite direction, American tourist Grace Arts in her rental Pessima, was headed to the mountains for a day of hiking. Both were traveling the speed limit; 75 Km/H. Virginia Pizzini, a new and inexperienced driver, was heading south to a neighboring town to go meet up with her friends. Unfortunately, she had a bad habit of texting while driving, a habit which would nearly cost her her life. All 3 drivers approached the crossroad roughly at the same time. Virginia blew past the stop sign and was struck by Bruno, which spun both vehicles into the oncoming lane where Grace then struck the side of Bruno's lorry. Due to a vehicle cutting off Bruno, the impact was thankfully less damaging than it could've been. Witnesses at a nearby gas station called emergency services, which arrived in only 8 minutes due to the proximity of a larger town. The same witnesses, and cameras facing towards the junction, saw everything.

Injuries: Bruno and Grace only suffered minor injuries, while Virginia had moderate injuries to her legs, left arm, head, and neck. Thankfully, her ETK's crumple zones and airbag deployment worked as intended, most likely saving her life.

Vehicles Involved: A 2019 ETK 1300, 1988 Ibishu Pessima Wagon, and a 2017 MAN TGS Euro 6 Box Truck

Location: Rural junction connecting 2 towns, Italy

Aftermath: The three victims recovered, and as expected, Virginia was charged with distracted driving. Not only did she have to pay up for the cars, she was also ordered to pay medical expenses for her and Bruno and Grace. Sadly, the accident marked the end for Grace's vacation which ended up being only 2 days long, instead of the expected week. Bruno is still trucking while Virginia isn't allowed to drive a vehicle until she moves out of her parents...a rule enforced by her parents, of course.
