BeamMP has come a long way, and Cobalt Motorsports is making true sim racing possible with BeamNG in ways I never thought possible. They've added tire wear physics that reward smooth driving, dynamic weather with rain simulation, SIMHUB style radar HUD for more track awareness, pit stops with different tire compounds allowing different strategies for rain and endurance, a system for showing and enforcing yellow, red and black flags, true race starts, unobtrusive checkpoint system to detect and penalize too many track cuts, and collision safety tracking (the last two not used for public quick racing). I have literally hours of good footage from racing on Wednesday in all sorts of different cars. Keep checking back if you want to see more races!
These videos in particular were from a public server. Also, here's an update of the latest videos, including a goofy box truck race, and K-Series, Piccolina and 200BX racing:
Everyone's favorite car, the Bolide, now racing in night and foggy conditions in rain physics with tire wear. Absolutely nothing could go wrong.
Here's round 2 of the 200BX League racing series with Cobalt Motorsports. While the others were public casual races, this one was a proper 40 minute league race with qualifiers done beforehand! A classic last-to-first comeback race after a couple popped tires and slight technical troubles. Clean racing all around.
tire wear you say? and dynamic weather with rain simulation? didnt know this was in beamng. could it be possible to have it as a standalone mod? I honestly care more about tire wear lol.
I'm not involved with development so I'm not sure. I remember asking Preston if we'd be able to load that stuff in single player so we could practice before races, but it was a long day and I forgot the answer. It'd be nice to see some of the stuff get standalone versions when development is more finalized for sure, even if just the SIMHUB radar HUD
Their radar app is now in the repo, very nice. Hope more stuff gets ported back to vanilla BeamNG https://www.beamng.com/resources/cobalt-radar.17576/
