Wheels aren't far enough done to post pictures, I'll post some maybe tonight Excuse me? Did you purposely ignore every post I made since then? I'm still updating this thread with progress. Never thought you'd be so arrogant. Wow. EDIT@below: Yeah.... You shouldn't... :|
Good idea. Seems like those blasted sites just hunt for download links and make up their own description for it while saying the author is unknown (when he/she is clearly listed in the forum post) >.> actually I wouldn't be surprised if that was their exact formula
Right, I did promise I'd post a pic... I'm not quite happy with these yet, and they're very unfinished(thats why the bolts+bolt holes are super incorrect).
Damn, that's a shitty development. Its a shame that the Russians are why we can't have nice things. I hope the mod sees it's completion soon. Maybe speak with the developers about modders setting up DRM in a way that you download mod files tied to your account with an identifier hidden somewhere. Uploading the file to a Russian site should also mean uploading your forum identity. Ban from access, problem solved.
Wait where else did this get posted besides the Asetto Corsa forums? Damn that sucks well i hope it gets finished soon and i hope my dusty pics help for reference.
Lots happier with them now. Needs high poly normal map baking now It's a bit annoying that I can't A/O bake just 1 spoke and then copy it over: since it's 7 spokes but 5 lugnuts, no 2 "slices" of the rim are the same :| But I'll A/O bake it some other way and it'll hopefully look cool They're slightly over 3000 triangles right now, including tires, I'm still gonna try to shave some off if I can.
Best progress on the rest of the car was posted in dev screens: a/o baking and nice panel gaps with normal maps Doing that takes such a long time because I had to UV the whole car, which basically has no visual result yet it takes absolutely ages...
Wow she's a beauty, sooner or later people are gonna start 'chasing' you for that Chaser. Har har harrrrrr
Super nice work! My next hurdle is UV Mapping, it seems so difficult, I cringe just thinking about it, what program and method do you use? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks I use Autodesk Maya(which is horrible for modeling and UV'ing, I'll admit... 3DsMax and SoftimageXSI are WAY better). In my opinion, UVing is not so much difficult as it is time consuming. You spend a TON of time UV'ing stuff, and in the end the model looks no different(until you put a texture on it...), so it's very unrewarding too. It just sucks. It's only reward comes when you can finally A/O bake your mesh and it looks SO much better. However, to make it slightly less annoying, there's also this nice plugin called RoadKill which is available for Maya and 3dsmax(and I think Softimage XSI, maybe Blender too?), which makes UV-mapping a lot easier for some objects. Allows you to "slice" the UV-seams in real-time onto your 3d model and it'll update the UV's in real time with every cut you make, so that there's the least amount of stretching/distortion (and it also shows with colors where the most/least stretching/distortion is on your UV's)... However, it still rotates your UV's half the time which is a pain if you want something to be vertical/horizontal like the physical model is, and even if you have a symmetrical object and UV it symmetrically, it doesn't always make symmetrical UVs...(you can see in the picture below with the rabbit, that big UV-island is at a 45 degree angle and one side is mapped slightly differently than the other... ). Still a nice tool though
Looks great, Mythbuster! I love the way this car drives and its turning out to be gorgeous, it's a shame people have to ruin it by stealing Anyway, can't wait to see the finished product.
