(Solved) Problem when launching game fron steam

so aparently beamng includes a virus according to steam, i can run it manually from the game files but it takes longer, here's a picture of the message steam

translation: the operati?on was not able to be completed because the file contains a virus or software potentially not wanted (0xE1) (and no the question mark was not put on accident the message was written like that)

I'm having the same issue.. first I had a bad update where it failed and said the executable was restricted from access on steam and it couldn't complete the update.
Then I had to re-log into my system user to fix it.. it updated.. was missing the executable.
I validated files and now I have the error seen above after it proceeded to download the proper executable.

At one point my windows also randomly reported a torjen was found on my system in System32 and then before I could even read it or oversee it it borked and removed it anyway.. not sure if that was important or not.

So apparently you're supposed to allow this potential false positive through your windows defender.

Just go to your A.V. settings and allow BeamNG executable file to be saved

 

i would like to know what A.V. means since im not that familiar with english abreviations due to me beeing mexican

 

I have the same issue. It is caused by some malware, probably by trojan horse. This game's developers, if you can, please, release some update which will fix this problem, which will delete this malware. I don't want to risk, because cybersecurity is the most important.

 

it's not for sure but i will run it manually until an update is issued, maybe computers detect it as a malware because when it moved the files before the update the computer might have thought it was deleting them, but who knows?, another thing that could've happened is that they got hacked and added malware, but that's just a theory.

 

Anti Virus

Don't trust whatever the Anti Virus says, the devs have stated that it's a false positive.

Same thing in my case. My anti virus marked this virus as trojan Zpvedo. I uninstalled the game and i dont think i will come back in a long time

 

There is a new update that fixed it.

Your AV is being dumb and giving false positives about BeamNG. Do what tdev says, and update game through Steam. Uninstalling BeamNG is unneeded.

Yes, I also checked it. It seems that game developers read it, what did i post in this thread.
