You get overtorque if your engine internals can´t handle the poweroutput, mostly happens because you install nitrous/turbo/supercharger. You can change to a sturdier engine block (heavy duty etc.) or reduce power output closer to stock levels to prevent damage.
It's pretty much a point in the power output of an engine where the internals of it are close to being past the maximum torque they can survive at. The only way to prevent it is to either use a stronger internal parts or dial back the power a bit
