Quick question why do i mostly see parts like engines, skins, maps etc but there are very few mods of a whole new vehicle why is that and im looking for a f350 truck yet the crew cab one that exists isnt very good and the only good ones are on websites that are like impossible to find and i dont know how to model
Modding takes a long time, and is difficult to learn because there is barely any help to learn jbeam. Also, there aren't very many real life vehicles because they aren't allowed on the repo.
Hi ^^! 1: The reason you mostly see "simple" parts on the forum is because making a whole vehicle takes 9 months. Making a GOOD mod takes a loooooong time on beamng. 2:The"good ones" that you see on website are stolen old mods, meshlap. This means that they only looks good. These mods will behave terribly in the game, so ask you this questions : do you really need this mod ? 3: There are a lot of tutorials on youtube on how to model, so i recommend try check them. I also recommend you Blender, a free-to-use 3d software. Anyway, i hope i helped you, have a nice day ^^
the Land section on the forums is your best bet, any other is actually kinda risky for inexperienced users as there are loads of fake-links and intrusive ads in them
more specifically, real brands and non-properly licensed models aren't allowed. things like the oldsfullsize, hirochi prasu, gavril vertex, or gavril gladiator are all allowed because they both don't use the name of the real car, and the models were either obtained with proper permission, or modelled by whoever made the mod. that's only a small part of the issue though, the specific reason why you don't see anywhere near as many mods as there are for GTA V for example, is because of how labour intensive making a mod is. if you have a 3d mesh, to make a GTA mod, you just have to convert the file to the format they use, then take a base vehicle's handling file, and change a few parameters in the handling file, like assigning the locations for door hinges and stuff. to make a mod for beamng, you basically have to 3d model the entire car again in a text editor to get a suitable jbeam structure (you might be able to use a vanilla car if one is close enough), then you have to fiddle with the strength, weight, etc. of all of those parts until it behaves realistically. and due to this difficulty, the bar for mod standards is quite high, it's sort of like "if you're going to go to the effort of jbeaming a whole car, why just make one variant, and why use a poorly shaded model from humster3d?"
You may be tempted by websites like beamngdrivemods, modsgamming, worldofmods, etc. But the only place you should be getting mods from is here. Those websites are russian websites full of viruses, are very shaddy, and anyways, the mods you would find there dont look good, crash good, drive well, or sound well. They only have a 3d model that is usually bought "slapped" onto the jbeam of another car. So a buggati chiron mod, for example, would be no faster than an sbr4, will sound like an sbr4, and wont crash well at all. They tend to get spiky in crashes. They also tend to be outdated and break your game. And most of the time, many parts, like the wheels, dont line up with the new mesh. So don't buy real car mods, anyone who knows what they are doing will say to only buy mods off of here, and say many of the same things I just said.
