Check that your version is 2.0.3. Then clear cache and delete GhostsDesert folder from BeamNG.drive/0.22/levels.

Ghost asked me to do something about the brightness. I can't revert the lighting and vivid colors back to what they used to be, but here's a couple of versions to make the map more playable. I hope. Maybe later we can steal PBR sand from an official map and try to fix it more.

    v2.0.4 Darkened

    2.0.3 vs 2.0.4
Map uses default sky gradients and enhanced 1024 shadows. Less bright but kind of dull and cold. 95 fps day and night with ultra settings, 50 at the reflective oasis (i5/1050Ti/16).

    v2.0.4_X Experimental
    screenshot_2021-08-28_20-20-24.jpg screenshot_2021-08-28_20-08-36.jpg screenshot_2021-08-28_20-08-48.jpg
Map uses an extra sun (that goes to lua sleep at night) to create dark and crisp 2048 shadows at day and enables soft moonlight shadows. Overall brightness is little lower, but still kind of blinding at mid day. Day-night transitions are rough and a bit out of this world, but maybe it's acceptable for an unique map like this. Drops my fps from 95 to 80-85, and to 40 around the oasis. Better performance at night.

Use at least minimum dynamic reflections on both maps or your vehicle will be way too dark.
Let me know what you think, all feedback is welcome. Or chime in if you have made better lighting tweaks.

Assuming your hardware meets the minimum requirements, I'd start by verifying the game files and trying the 2.0.3 in safe mode.
Memory usage is 6.9 GB (2133MHz, v2.0.4x) on my system. I don't remember having any crashes ever with this map.

Sadly, the current download is broken:
    - loading the map creates a levels folder with terrain files in it, that shouldn't happen
    - sky gradient files aren't loading, there is no light
    - player vehicle gets destroyed at spawn
    - no mesh issues all around

You could try to check and repack your work, then test it without other active mods after deep clearing cache.
