    I said not modders should give me their mods for free, I meant I don't like this idea because I don't have money. My post has 2 paragraphs, the first paragraph says why I think I haven't to pay a mod (even when I'm from USA), and the second paragraph is an informing to anyone that they want to say "bruh these mods are just about 10 Dollars, pay them".

    It's the best idea!

    I would buy a "DLC" which changed the Badges and branding of the vehicles to be real-life vehicles.

    For example Gavril D-series -> Ford F150
    Cherrier Vivace -> Hyundai I30

    (im not sure what the D-Series is based on so i guessed)

    What if ads were for other BeamNG mods, and every day a new ad is chosen for each mod. The mods could be displayed on the sidebar, and the creator of the mod that the ad is being displayed on could get the money.

    It's a win-win because the creator would get money (not a whole lot, but maybe US$1 - 3 a day or something like that.), and the consumer would get more mods to check out afterward.
    it would also compel mod creators to make better mods, because the more people that check out their mod, the more money they get.

    The only thing I can't figure out is that the person paying for the mod won't really have a reason for buying it, and I'm sure BeamNG won't just pay people because they made a mod, and advertise other mods randomly in the process.

    Just my (US)$0.02.

    I HIGHLY doubt BeamNG is going to add ads to their website or game. That is absolutely absurd.

    I wasn't the one who suggested it, I just elaborated.

    I know, I just wanted to make it clear, sorry if I came off as harsh.

    Thanks for clarifying. I know sometimes people can be pretty harsh to a single person and being fairly new, I wasn't sure if this was one of those situations.

    Seems absurd because the game is paid so they don't have to make money on ads. But the idea was that modders would make the money and mods are free.

    I just don't know where the money to pay for the ad would come from, because I don't think modders would pay for an ad for their free mod.

    While I have nothing against the idea of paid mods, and it has become pretty much an industry in the more hardcore simulation games (Assetto, Flight simulators, etc), with actual studios developing high quality content, I'm not sure it's something that could work in the current context of beamNG.

    A thing that stands out between the games/sims where paid mods are considered part of it, and those where it flopped; is that a lot of the game/sims where it works serve as a main hobby of the people who buy paid mods, with also some investment in hardware that can easily reach a 1000$ for people who are really into it, so spending 5-10$ on a car, or 50$ on a study level plane is more justifiable, and those people also have more money to spend on those things.

    BeamNG as much as it is a sim, doesn't yet have all the things it would need to become a proper sim that can be used for more then driving around and fooling around. Don't get me wrong, those things can be fun, but it also means the average player is a lot younger and has less money to spend. Therefore I doubt that charging any amount of money for a mod would bring in that much cash, especially for anyone who has a day job.

    The last part is why I'm personally not interested in making my mods paid at least, as I see that it would bring a higher level of expectations for an amount of money that's not worth it for me.

    An other issue I have is that people who know how to jbeam properly are rare, and people who can properly judge the quality jbeam are also surprisingly rare. This becomes a problem when the only way to know if a mod is worth it or not are pictures and reviews.

    Related to the jbeam issue is the problem of a lot of mod cars being "interesting" to drive to say the least, which is a thing I've never done ever :rolleyes:. It's hard to know the truth about those because once again you're basing yourself on reviews, and it's hard to know if the person saying that a vehicle handles like trash is saying the truth or is just a terrible driver (or a keyboard driver). Similar thing for positive reviews as I've seen (and personally did it) people tell others to "git gud" in response to the handling of vehicles that have actual problems.

    One thing I think could be nice though is having some "kickbacks" for successful modders; even relatively inexpensive one. I'd 100% accept beamNG swag as payment for getting past a certain amount of downloads or something :cool:

    If you can't make good Jbeam, you won't be able to judge someone else's Jbeam. For example my Jbeam skills are not very good and other mods that seem good for me in comparison are probably objectively bad and only a person who can do better would be able to judge them properly. We would need the devs to judge the Jbeam, and based on that approve or disapprove mods for payment, I think the devs are very good at Jbeam so they would be suited for this job.

    That could very well work. I know I personally have no idea how hard it is to make a Jbeam, I only have a vague idea of what one even is, so leaving it to the pros would work great.

    no one would be forcing you to download the mods.
    and plus, a modder puts a couple hundred hours into a good mod at absolute least, it's actually kind of surprising anyone is willing to make mods for free, considering the amount of time and technical knowledge it takes.

    Yeah, it does take a while. I mean, op can do whatever he wants. I just personally wouldn't be willing to pay for a mod.

    Even if you had a million dollars? And yes, you can do whatever the hell you want. I've already given my take on this whole situation.
