I just purchased and downloaded this game, and every car I try to drive is impossible to control. I have yet to get over 60 in any car whatsoever because it will drift one way, I'll correct it, and then it just slides and spins and I can't control it. It's like the ground is ice. This even happens in the truck you start out with and the Covet. Did my game download something wrong, or do I need to fix something in the settings that I'm not seeing?

It's not anything you've done wrong, the cars are simply hard to control with a keyboard. Are you using the pre-race version? (it's new)

also Are you sure you downloaded the right game? (tech demo or actual full game) because you don't have a badge for your account.

Are you using a keyboard or some sort of controller?

If you are using the keyboard, then that would be causing the problem. The keys pretty much act like an on/off switch, so precision driving can be difficult at first. Therefore the cars will not be very stable, if you were to drive an actual car like all the controls were on/off, you would end up having the same issues. If you are very careful, and just lightly tap the keys instead of holding them, you will have more car control. In the long run, you will be better off picking up a controller of some sort.

A regular game pad will work pretty well and you will gain a lot of car control, and depending on what you pick up, it will not cost you an arm and a leg, the popular choice is an XBox 360 controller of some sort, I personally have a Rock Candy controller, brand new around $25, and it worked great until I bought my G27. A wheel would be even better, but if this is the only driving game you have, then it is a pointless investment unless you get an extremely good deal, most good wheels will be a couple hundred dollars US.

Note: also you should link your game to your forum account, you will get access to a lot of good mods, and another section of the forums.

Okay, thanks guys. I'll get one at Wal-Mart in a little bit. I don't know what you mean by linked, I just know I paid $15 and pressed download under this account name.

check out the email that was sent to you, (there are a couple) and one of them will have a link that you click on so your forum account is "linked" to the fact that you paid for the full game, and you get a badge under your name <like mine. welcome aboard!

I'm pretty sure it's the pre-race full game, I have like 6 maps and the gauges at the bottom left. Sorry for all of this, I'm new here.

I got it! The register button is on the same page as download and I just didn't see it when I downloaded it.

I feel a bit conned here as I distinctly remember reading something about 'high fidelity controls' that work well 'even with a keyboard' yet the game is basically impossible with a keyboard.

Well carthrottle wrote article about beamng saying :" Aside from the advanced driving physics, the team aims to improve car customisation. Gamers can bring their car to the garage to ‘fix it up, upgrade it, or strip away body panels to reduce weight’. There are add-ons available for more cars, parts and tyres. If running around crashing into things doesn’t entertain enough, players can also enter a rally race, destruction derby, stunt challenge, police chase, delivery mission and more."

Not anything about glorious keyboard controls tho.

Try blimping the throttle, rather then holding it down, practice with that for a bit and see if it helps. I know the Bolide if you hold the gas flat out is uncontrollable, being very careful it is somewhat driveable using a wheel and pedals. Other vehicles are much better but still don't 'feel' right the way they handle, and are a bit hard to control.

I know this comment is a week old, but since tthis was posted, I have seen lots of stupid comments and threads from you. Seriously? lets try and turn up the maturity level. These types of comments or replies are simply useless, demeaning, and otherwise just plain immature. I have been seeing a lot of posts AND THREADS that have been started by you that don't contribute a damn thing, and it gets really old, really fast. Not saying you never have anything nice to say, since I have seen you be somewhat mature on more than one occasion, so I know you got it in you. So please, just stop. These forums are flooded enough as it is with flame wars, nasty remarks, and immature posts, and it makes it really hard to actually enjoy the forums as a whole.

I am a member to quite a few forums, and I never have seen so much negativity in ANY of them like I have seen here. Lets just be cool, and try and make this a better place for all of us. /rant

compared to every other car game I've played (from arcade to simulator) beamng's handling is (quite frankly) atrocious for keyboard. I highly recommend Mr.Hankey's car handling mod.
