I know, walking mode and stuff, visual meshes. But what about drivers? Cars in this game have mostly been driverless, only mods can add drivers and stuff, but in vanilla, everyone is invisible! No drivers! It would make sense if there were some drivers on the driver's seat. About an on-foot police chase, Some guy had already suggested police officers that would get out of the car to chase you. About how the drivers and officers should look like. It could be a dummy or a realistic human, I Can't Decide Myself! Other Can Choose! Also please do NOT suggest mods, this thread is about adding official Alive entities in BeamNG.drive other than you.
I totally agree, cars need drivers ! Dummy would make total sense with this game ! As in the mods that have already been created, just a few simple articulations....
Yes, I agree that the game would be much more realistic in accidents and in police chases. It would certainly introduce many new and interesting features.
idk, maybe beacuse its beamng.drive not beamng.open world sandbox. its simply not the focus of the game and there is no need for such a feature currently and probaby never will be.
I understand you and you are right, in fact, I would not add a person character for now, because it is a car game, walking mode has been added and it should be enough for now, who knows, maybe it will happen someday. It doesn't have to be a realistic enough game since there are mods you can dummy download.
That means... no characters officially in the game... ever? It's just awkward seeing a single seat and a steering wheel on the Driver's seat! Also, Why CAN'T it be an open world sandbox game? I'm just suggesting Ideas! --- Post updated --- No offense
The main reason honestly would be because of the ESRB rating. With no drivers, there is an implication that no one is dying... and thus can keep its E status. If you have drivers in the cars, you're implying that the driver's have definitely died in that super violent accident and that would bump the ESRB straight to M probably. Other games have pulled the exact same stunt. Look at Burnout Paradise for instance... great game, rated E, probably had the best damage model of its day... and for that there are no drivers in the vehicles. Same with Trackmania Original and Trackmania Sunrise... no drivers. Only once Stadium came out and the driver had full protective gear so he could hardly move did they add in a driver. The only way I could see them getting away with it and keeping the E rating is if they handled it like Tourist Trophy by Polyphony Digital did. As soon as you would start to slip up and start to lay the bike down the rider would vanish from existence. Thus they weren't "really" in the crash and could get away with it.
It would be nice to test such a function first, and not introduce it to the game immediately. However, this may be a feature that most players might not like. Just like in this thread, one likes them and the other doesn't. In my opinion, this feature needs to be tested by players first, as it would introduce a lot of changes to the game.
Hmmm if I understand correctly this function would be too brutal? Beamng drive is distinguished by the fact that you are not responsible for the accident and there is no blood, which is why it should remain so.
I'm not really liking this idea... 12-year-olds will start asking for guns and stuff. Then this game will be completely destroyed and turn into GTA. Beamng is perfect the way it is.
They are not coming. Period. I do agree with the idea, i think cars without drivers look dumb, but they aint coming.
"No" isn't a good answer. You should give a reason why you don't think this is a good idea. Just saying no won't change their opinion.
If you think about it, you are right that the accidents could be too realistic. This could actually change in GTA.
Having drivers would affect the game's age rating since it's got very detailed crash physics and a 6 year old shouldn't see some mangled driver figure that was thrown out the window, should they?
