I have over 120 1:18 scale car models They're all pre-built though; I'm too lazy to assemble and paint things. Some of them make for excellent reference.
I made a 2006ish Mustang with one of those kits once. Lost it though. I personally don't like those. The plastic is so flimsy and even if you make it perfectly, it's bound to fall apart or break somehow. Just not as nice as the cast ones you can buy. btw the last quote in your signature is hilarious XD
Could you post some pics of them? I would like to see them. Also, I especially like the cars Autoart makes. They put some beautiful details in their cars.
Autoart is amazing. I've got a few from them (they're expensive as hell!). Lotus Esprit, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 TME, Bugeye Impreza WRX STI, Crown Vic, and I think a couple others. I really love Maisto; the models are so cheap (like $10 a piece) and they're pretty good quality. They even have suspension UT Models also makes some really high quality stuff. I have a Porsche 993 Turbo from them and a regular 996; both are absolutely flawless and beautiful.
This Mercedes is absolutely amazing, but the price is just like the name says ''Exclusive''. It has amazing details though: http://carmodelz.com/index.php/nl/b...enz-500k-spezial-roadster-1934-w29-s018h.html I also like CMC but they are really expensive as well, but not like Mercedes. I can say I have an expensive taste.
Nice models guys! And Roy, I really like that Porsche you want. Model cars are pricey, but oh well. If I want to expand my collection, here are a few cars I really like. I want a classic car collection. Let me show you a few, let me know what you think of it http://www.carmodel.com/bos-models/bos007/1-18/ford/taunus-mki-gxl-1973/73318 http://www.carmodel.com/bos-models/bos016/1-18/ford/taunus-p5-1964/73326 http://www.carmodel.com/bos-models/bos054/1-18/audi/100-s-coupe-1973/73334 http://www.carmodel.com/sun-star/04534/1-18/ford/falcon-futura-cabriolet-1963/72486 http://www.carmodel.com/signature/38212/1-18/audi/100-1971/44453 http://www.carmodel.com/bos-models/bos019/1-18/ford/taunus-17m-1957/73329 http://www.carmodel.com/bos-models/bos001/1-18/bmw/1600-gt-coupe-1967/73315 http://www.carmodel.com/autoart/70652/1-18/bmw/700-sport-coupe-2-door-1960/68412 http://www.carmodel.com/autoart/70593/1-18/bmw/502-2-6-super-1954/42948 http://www.carmodel.com/bos-models/bos021/1-18/opel/kapitan-1958/73331 http://www.carmodel.com/biante-model-cars/b182702a/1-18/holden/vc-commodore-sl-e-1978/49549 - HadACoolName!! Hey, look at this one, you'll like it
The AutoArt versions are very rare now. I believe they stopped production of these more than 10 years ago. You might find some popping up on eBay for $100+. You can get MotorMax versions for cheaper as they are still being produced but don't look quite as good.
Before getting into 1/1 cars I collected 1/18 cars. Started with the cheaper brands and then sold it to collect the high-end brands like Kyosho, Minichamps and AutoArt. I still have some but I'm not collecting anymore. Got loads of other expensive hobby's
Here are just a few of my 1:64 scale cars, I just snapped these pics before work this morning. 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS 1967 Galaxy 500 (my dad had one of these) View attachment 02.jpg 2010 Shelby GT500 1985 Mustang SVO 1981 Corvette Waterford Police 1976 Dodge van 1988 Trans Am 1966 Shelby GT350 1971 Cuda 383 I like 1:64 scale cars, they are much much cheaper than larger scales and you don't need as much space to display them. In recent years they've really improved the detail of these cars and several new companys have entered the market. At car swap meets I attend there are always at least a few vendors selling 1:18 scale cars for cheap (Some unboxed for super cheap). They have great detail and they seem to have every muscle car, vintage truck, and Corvette you can think of (well except a faded gray 1983 Camaro Z28 ). Model railroading shows also seem to have a lot of cool scale cars but they seem to be more pricey. I went to a Trans Am Nationals show a few years ago and there was a vendor who I swear had every production variation of the Firebird available in the 1:18 scale. Even less popular ones like form the mid 70's, 80's and 90's. Most were under 50$ and they looked fantastic. From a white and blue 69 Trans Am to a terd brown 1979 Esprit 305. Nice price and great variety, I would love to add some these cars to my collection, but I've been strictly saving my money for a 1:1 scale project car. But once I get a car and I'm making a little more money I'll have to add to my 1:18 collection. Oh and 600th post
I collect some model cars. I have two nascar stockcars, from recent years. One of them is a car of tomorrow and the other one is from like a year before they started it. They're awesome things. They're really detailed, suspension, etc. I have some cheap ass crown vic that I bought for way to much at a store in nyc. It's not extremely deltailed or nice, but it's got opening doors, hood, steering works, so it isn't too bad. I also have a few little trucks. Idk what scale they are but they're pretty nice, most of them broken in some way cause I never really had much appreciation for them until recently so they were kinda thrown around with the matchbox cars. I'll take some pictures. I have a few more but don't feel like listing them. Just kidding I'm way too lazy to take pictures, put them on the computer, then upload them here. Oh and the little trucks are 1/84 or something like that.
Just bumping to say I added photos to my post - - - Updated - - - Ahh the VC Commodore, one of them in good condition would be worth a bundle
I make them, and I'm half way through constructing another. They're about 2 hours of work a piece, and you need to find an old matchbox car or something to shape the bodywork or make a mold around that size. The actual craft is the underbody of the car and I'll show that off if you want when I've made it it just mimics the structure of an actual car, if only quite loosely. They crumple surprisingly realistically when you crash them too!
