So... Today is Republic Day in Italy. Since an Italian was responsible for the first european colonization of the Americas and Italians also invented the electric battery and the first telephonic device, you should all care about it.
Jesus god guys. Why do you need to fight. It was a holiday in a country with 335 million people, who cares that you aren’t in America and don’t celebrate it, nobody. It’s a very important day in American culture and we just want to remember all the people who died fighting. Also you guys do realize that multiple countries can invent the same thing right.
I had an uncle who served during WWI. I never met him, but we have his diary somewhere. He wrote that the stresses of the constant battle so desensitized him to the sounds of gunfire and explosions, that he could (and needed to) sleep through the chaos. One night, he went to sleep in the trench, with his buddy just mere feet away around a slight corner. He awoke undisturbed, hours later, to discover that a mortar had rendered his friend to nothing more than his boots. I think about that story a lot. I'm under no impression that the United States has only ever waged rightful wars, but it's a hard damn thing being a soldier. There should be at least a day or two where we think about what those people went through, whether you remember them as heroes of a grand and righteous cause, or victims, of an uncaring political machine. And you bet your ass I'll do the same for the Brits and the ANZACs. We've more in common than we often care to admit.
c'mon this was just a guy trying to wish everyone a happy Memorial Day, not trying to insult anyone who isn't from America, after all, Memorial Day isn't about America being better than everyone else. it is just a day for Americans to remember the soldiers who have died serving our country. and there is nothing unique about it either, Great Britian and the countrys associated with it celebrate rememberance day, for the same purpose, to remember the fallen soldiers who gave their lifes for their country.
I wanted to apologize to all of you for behaving so ugly and I am sorry again --- Post updated --- and yes I have started arguing
