Also remember that if PBR wasn't coming the devs would have probably said so by now like they always do when speculation goes too far.
1) read my signature, I know what PBR is and I know that pic was PBR 2) I was the one saying it was coming months back. I never said its not coming, just that there was no official confirmation so its not CONFIRMED just HIGHLY LIKELY
bruh just stop it with the HiGhLy LiKeLy confirmed or not it doesnt matter. tdev teased it and its getting near. weather it releases with .23 .24 .25 .26 or .27 doesnt matter. its coming. not just LiKeLy, ITS COMING. end of it.
jesus christ chill tf out. Literally all im saying is there has no been confirmation that the pic is indeed pbr and that pbr is coming next update. It looks like pbr but there is no PROOF it is. So saying 'that pic means it is confirmed' is just not correct. I do think pbr is coming next update and that the pic is pbr, as I have been screaming it from the rooftops back when yall didnt believe me and said the devs wouldnt do that. It just isnt concrete proof, literally could be them just allowing for gloss maps now since beamng never did support that before.
Right? I didnt know saying that something was not actually confirmed is a slight against so many people lmao. Getting called dumb when I have a degree in this stuff because I said a single pic is not proof of a full render overhaul? Like wow this forum is vicious.
Am i the only one who A) doesn't like the look of pbr and B) not looking forward to pbr ? I get the feeling that my beam days will be over with pbr, this potato can only take so much abuse before kicking up a big sad
If done right it shouldn't be that much or any of a performance decrease at all, and the devs absolutely would not release something that would be a detriment to the overall experience of the game
beamng's material optimization isnt very good rn. it uses an ancient laggy method of doing shit so PBR should make performance better
saying you dont like the look of pbr is like saying you dont like the look of outside. Its not really a look, its a set of methods to recreate materials/light in a similar way to the real world. The 'look' you usually get is from how people use/impliment it.
As Ryakra said, even if we put a few pieces of the puzzle together and come to a conclusion ourselves, it's still something that should be treated as "uncomfirmed" until officially confirmed. Things can be changed, end up being something other than expected, or come very much further down the line. It's a speculation thread after all not a confirmation thread
https://marmoset.co/posts/basic-theory-of-physically-based-rendering/ https://marmoset.co/posts/physically-based-rendering-and-you-can-too/ Both those links go into depth on what pbr is and how it tends to work. Pbr can basically be found everywhere these days. Unity/UE4 and 5/basically any triple A engine/Any offline renderer
The way BeamNG renders vehicles right now is very inefficient, it renders multiple layers per vehicle. PBR would in theory reduce the layer count, and so the performance penalty would be reduced.
oh is see, so there is the slight chance of it actually increasing performance (in a minor way however), ok that makes it somewhat better. Though there's still the problem of it making some things look like plastic
The only way for pbr to make things look like plastic is to have them set to make things look like plastic. Just like the beamng cars are set to be right now. PBR on its own will not do that.
