Working on UVs currently! I am using the ETK I textures for now until I get Volvo 240 images, but it is not TOO terrible. Also, jbeam is pretty well aligned! --- Post updated --- Also, sorry about the artifacting. My GPU is not working right...As usual.
Wow, nice taillight job but for j beam won't 240's a pilar wrap more similar to contemporary Ibishu Miramar?
im hella stoked for this 240. --- Post updated --- this is further in the future but are u going to need sounds for the car cause i have access to a turbo and na version of the 240.
if this volvo doesnt have a d24 engine when its released im out All jokes aside will there be a 245 and 242 version ?
Good to know This reminds me of the old 242 mod back in the day and maybe you could take some inspiration of this mod? I mean if you actually end up deciding on making the 242 model it would be cool to make the rally version based on the real life one that was actually raced. https://www.beamng.com/threads/volvo-242-le.35188/ The link to the mod. scroll down and youll see tons of pictures of the real life and the one modded in game
Ok, thanks! --- Post updated --- Do to the countless bugs in Blender 2.9x, I am going back to 2.83 LTS. This should speed things up for me a lot! Thank you for your support! --- Post updated --- I did some quick and dirty UVs on this thing, I will do better ones soon though! I will need some pictures of the car though.
This is so exciting!! --- Post updated --- once youre done with the project you should shove a lgf (Långsamtgående fordon) sign Btw that sign obviously means its slow and indicates its an epa traktor. långsamtgående fordon means slowdriving vehicle and as you probably know epa traktors are very slow and youre only allowed to drive 30kmh max on the 240's. theyre also for people to young to drive from 15-17 and once youre 18 you get a real car license and drive a real car. you can still drive epa traktor even if youre over 18 i think
Is this goin in the bin of ded mods? I hope not cause i love old volvos --- Post updated --- nvm im dumb and forgot there was multiple pages --- Post updated --- nice job tho goin well it seems
Small update: lights are pretty much done, as is the body. Here are some pics. Sadly, this is as far as I can go with the textures until I get some pictures of the real Volvo 240. I will work on the jbeam next. Thank you all for your support!
I did add few pointers to this pic I found from interwebz: Sideline generally has mild arc that starts from very front and goes to very back, also rear corner of the trunk has quite rounded corners. Trunk top sides are quite rounded too, not quite so sharp as in your model and whole sideline has such rounded shape to it. Also I noticed that your seats might be bit too low, if you look headrest height from above pic and compare that to your model, there is some difference. Front lights height looks bit high, but I think if sideline is adjusted to be more of an arc, then front and rear lights will become correct height. It has come long way since you started, so keep working on it! For textures, you might not get pictures that you can use as a texture, but you can find lot of pictures from sites like these: https://www.240turbo.com/dashgaugepod.html Generally it might be that you need to paint texture yourself in Gimp or model high detail surface in Blender, then render that to texture. Although using something like Substance painter/designer/alchemist or free alternative like quixel mixer might be something to learn as then you would generate textures and that would be also more future proof way. However taking pic from the car and putting that in as a texture is probably not going to work out so well. For example gauges are something that will look blurry if photo is used, most of the time, using a photo drawing a texture gives often better result, but as I can't draw, I have found out that Inkscape or Powerpoint works somewhat to the purpose, however it still takes lot of failed attempts until something bearable comes out.
Will this thing be a thing? Theres a button that you press that makes black smoke come out and if you press it again the black smoke is gone. very sweet and it would be a shame to not see such beautiful art in the 240. Yes thats a 940 but you get the picture.
I love that! I may just do that! --- Post updated --- First Config! I have not even lined up the wheels, I just had to do that smoky Volvo --- Post updated --- The smoke is not working very well, but hey, it only took about 10 minutes!
