The tires are looking quite right now. All the chaser pictures I can find look pretty spot on to this. I absolutely loved that 1JZ shot also. I can't wait until that is all skinned. As a big Toyota fan, I am glad you built a different car than the Supra. Don't get me wrong, I love Supras, but Toyota has other fun cars people often overlook.

    That 1JZ though.....

As for the doors, one way of doing it is to have 2 door jbeams within the file (like you would do for wheels) with the same nodes, but lightened for the cardless panel. In doing so, the game will still have good performance, and stripping the interior reduces weight (this principle can be applied to practically everything, which is what I intend to do)

Yes, I had the same issue some time ago. Basically, the R16 bit does not actually mean the rim diameter is 16 inches, but rather the distance between either side of the tyre bead is 16 inches across. The bead goes onto the tyre a bit, so the rim ends up being larger than the Rxx bit (if i recall, an R14 rim is more like 15.25 inches in diameter). Generally, I just add an inch to the R bit (i.e my 14" wheels have a 15" diameter)

the 205 refers to the distance between the widest part of the tyre (where it bulges), and 55% of that is the profile (I assume from the bead again). There is also a separate measurement for rim width which is recorded in inches, for example Toyota OEM "Pizza Cutter" wheels have a 14x5.5 size. This means that the diameter is ~15 inches, and the rim is 5.5 inches wide. You should take into account all of these factors when making new wheels, it'll save you a lot of frustration:) (luckily for me, Watanabe's weren't too hard to edit)

Also, you should take into account the rim offset and bolt PCD, especially if you're going to have a lot of wheel options.

Anyways, this Chaser looks wonderful. The modeling is simply beautiful, and the photo textures really worked a treat, it looks just like a real one:D

Yes Maya :) Been modeling for many, many years now. Probably 7-8 or so...

    Umm...
I just bought this for the engine/suspension and everything else :p Yup, bought. Spending money so I can make more free cars for you guys, even though people will steal em and claim them as their own :p I'm a bit crazy I guess...

I have no idea what I'm doing yet.. but I like it. A lot. Especially considering this is straight out of the box, with zero experience... Just me clicking 1 button. It seems like the program pretty much only works *properly* when you use a high poly-baked normalmap or something though. Gonna take a while to learn this, but it'll be epic. Hopefully it'll be super useful for the chassis/engine texturing of this thing :D

Why would you texture the entire vehicle from a photo? Don't you think it would make the color picker not work right? It also lowers the quality of the solid color because it's a picture. At least that's what it looks like, but maybe not

    Wat.

I'm just experimenting with my new texturing tool, which gives me a procedural weathering texture system... Where the hell do you see me texturing from any photos without serious edits... I just said I've been modeling for 7-8 years, and you're telling me I shouldn't texture from photos? :p Don't you think I would've picked that up by now? :p

If you mean the pic in the background of that photo... That's just something I used to scale the wheels better.

Here, have some free meshviewer that comes with the program... Tilt-shift + lense flare + DoF + SSAO + Sharpen + Extra AA + Fresnel reflections + HDR speculars... Oh so pwetty :D (Seriously though, never do that for real-sies... This is just me having too much fun when I should be asleep). I also just bought the NDO thing... Which is pretty epic too :D

    Wow :D

Can you bring the rusty version in Game? Would be soo cool.

But you also have to make the colour brighter than (Because sun makes colors brighter after years, you know what i mean?)

    Good luck ;)

I might. If I can get it to look good in-game without having to create stuff by hand for it, it would be real easy to bring it in-game. I need to experiment first though. The tool is so incredibly advanced for what I'm used to, that I have a hard time understanding all of it. Hopefully I can do the engine/suspension without having to redo everything 5 times... Aight, bedtime now :p
