Is it possible to get viruses from mods? I usually scan them with Windows Defender but I don't know if its trustworthy
Depends which website I guess. From this website I'm 99% you can't because if the moderation found something like that they would remove the mod and ban the author instantly, from the repo definitely not because all mods are manually checked by devs, from trusted websites like Beam-Monsters or GTG Mods Team 98% sure you can't as the only way I can imagine this happening would be if the website was hacked... But if you find a shady website that gives you .exe installers instead of simple zip files to install mods, then yeah there could be a risk that some of those mods are trojans, usually not but the risk is way higher than here because if it's an .exe you can never be sure what you just downloaded.
Beamng forums,GTG mods,beam-monsters are sites u can trust but pls dont go to sites like world of mod modsgaming stmods bcus they can give u virus dont download files from there bcus they give u .exe file which can have virus so stay safe and have a good day!
You can also download zip files from world of mods if you select "download the zip-file without installer" and on stmods you can only download from webistes like sharemods where it is up to the user whether it's an exe file or a zip file
Dangerous to people who don't have experience in the Internet. They can click on a wrong link or on an ad and get a virus. If you have experience you can go on WOM and STmods, but it's not really worth the effort when most of their mods are low quality anyway.
you should calm down, the site doesnt have viruses but you know what it has? leaked awful mods, dont use WOM
From my understanding windows defender is very competent, mods on the forums are safe from what i know but certain sites can be very malicious. especially if a download is on mediafire, website is covered in ads and pop ups lol
What do our beamng-good-car-experts think of the mods of Twixer on modland? I think I am not allowed to put a direct link to it, but you can google it.
