Hello everyone, The last challenge ended a while ago. We loved all the entries and together with BeamNG team, we decided to host another one! Modding always sounds so difficult getting into and im stilll scared just seeing how many jbeams cars have.. Maybe its not so bad.
It's exactly why the challenge was created, we carefully choose themes and set up a scoring system in a way anyone can participate. There are few tutorials in the linked discord server and a bunch of people who can help you with modding issues.
goto https://www.beamng.com/resources/ and click "add resource" at the top, select vehicles and fill in the rest of the infomation.
And the long-awaited moment has come! Rather delayed (which we are sorry about) results of the challenge are in! To start with we would like to thank everyone for all the amazing entries, I hope you all enjoyed making them as much as we enjoyed reviewing them. The variety of trailers was truly impressive. Let's start by giving a quick rundown on each submission, starting with: Trailers in Parts Selector By: @Agent_Y This mod, as the name would suggest ports all in game trailers to the slots in the tow hitch/fifth wheel. As far as actual new content goes, it also adds a few creative loads for the caravan. The tanker trailer gets a few interesting loads as well and it is indeed slightly easier to spawn vehicles with trailers. Sadly things like textures, lack of auto-smooth/edge split on some models or that the trailer wheels aren’t always where they should be, combined with not the most stable of jbeam structures on the caravan's tongue did contribute to loss of a bunch of points. Teardrop Trailer By: @Littleturdlet Its quite an unique, fairly simple, yet relatively well made mod. Textures are decent, Jbeam structure is stable, but lacks some destructability. Bonus points for it being the firs mod author has published, really solid start! Prerunner Support Truck+Trailer By: @CaptainZoll This entry features a rather cool an unique suspension setup, that does a great job with rather heavy trailer in harsh offroad conditions. Matching truck is a cool bonus as well. Main cons of the mod are a lot of vibrations in the trailer tongue and really shaky trailer support legs. Overall this entry fits the challenge quite well, main content seems to be made quite well, however it does lack a littlebit in the parts that make it into a trailer. Clear Car Trailer By: @LJ74 Another really cool entry by the gambler challenge's winner. It adds a see-through enclosed car trailer. First impression was truly amazing, nice looking textures, openable doors, fairly stable structure. Unfortunately during out review process we did stumble across a few issues. Main issue, which had a big impact on scoring was the size of the trailer. Its noticeably wider than the Dryvan semi trailer, making it too wide to fit into highway tool gates on WCUSA. While openable doors were a nice touch, lack of ability to tear them off the vehicle did disappoint us a littlebit as well, especially considering the modding experience of the author. Melmoth Land Liner By: @Ryo13silvia By far the most unique entry to the challenge, allows you to take your T-series with specially crafted trailer onto a road cruise like never before. Neat looking interior and being able to access everything and addition of iceberg prop only add in the coolness factor, our computers didn't however appreciate the rather intense use of spotlights, which tanked the fps into single digids. Jbeam structure could also use a bit more detail. Even with all those flaws, its still worth checking out. And now for the winners... The third place goes to: @CaptainZoll , with his Prerunner Support Truck+ Trailer! Your reward is 1 Steam Code of BeamNG.drive to give away! The 1st and 2nd place were quite close together, but after a bunch of discussions... The second place goes to: @LJ74 with Clear Car Trailer! Your reward, is 2 BeamNG Steam codes to give away! And the long awaited, and well deserved First place goes to: @Littleturdlet with his Teardrop Trailer! Your revard is an exclusive BeamNG.drive T-Shirt, 3 Steam codes to giveaway, an official winner certificate and a Modding For Dummies medal. Enjoy your rewards, you deserve them! Thank you all for joining the challenge! We will contact the winners about the rewards soon. Next challenge's theme is still yet to be determined, ideas on what you'd like to make are of course welcome.
