    not really a barge tbh
barges to me are 1960's-1980's cars longer than 16 feet, and aimed at luxury buyers with usually I6's or massive, stupidly underpowered V8s
    not 1970's muscle-y coupes :>

Yes I’d say a mix of 80s Crown Vic and 80s Caprice classic

Also a donk car because yes

(sorry if this is starting to sound like a vehicle suggestion but this is just my theory of what the devs might take their inspiration from if they make an 80s grand marshal)
    --- Post updated ---
True, a 70s-80s barge would be awesome as well

Right but what does all of this have to do with speculation about updates?

As much as I would like to see it, I doubt the team would want to step on the toes of the old fullsized mod with a 1980's BoF fullsized volume car like that. Between facelifts and luxury/LWB versions and a wagon body the GM has plenty of possible content options without going to a previous generation.

Not too sure on this but aren't panther body chassis' pretty much unchanged from the 80s boxes to the newer ones? Wouldnt make an OBS grand marshall far fetched if thats true in real life

Both the later GM B Body cars and the panther platforms in the 90's were just heavily reskins of the late 70's to early 80's models. I imagine it was due to the costs of making a new platform considering the money spent on developing new FWD platforms during the downsizing trend of the 80's. It wasn't rare for a fullsize V8 american vehicle platform to last for nearly 20 years (the GM Vans are still going despite being nearly 30 years old) at the time.

I do think it would better at the moment to focus on a luxury version of the GM as that would fill the gap for a Land Yacht (even if the Wendover kind of fills that niche at the moment but the GM would be RWD). As the GM C Body was just a larger variant of the B Body platform, and of course the Panther platform had luxury models. If they really wanted to think outside of real trends they could make a coupe version of the luxury Grand Marshall (Luxury fullsize coupes were dead by then).

sorry if I turn on the speculation for things that might just be fantasies but I wanted to ask you a question about the next update: in the last dev blog (0.23) the developers said that the "traffic reacting to road signs" was only implemented on ECUSA and they said it will also arrive on WCUSA later on. In an unofficial video (found by a user and posted a few pages before this) it is said that WCUSA could be expanded. In the end we were told that the next update will not arrive in 2/3 months but in 4 months ... Maybe in this delay (in addition to the other things they are implementing) there could also be a WCUSA 2.0?

    (sorry for my English)

Aside from performance, the biggest issue with making WCU larger is the terrain size, or rather terrain resolution. Every other official level uses heightmaps that are at 1 pixel per 1 meter resolution, with 4096x4096 being the largest possible heightmap. But because WCU needs the steeply inclined roads of Belasco to be drivable with such sharp grade changes, it uses 2 pixels per meter. So while Italy is spatially 4x larger than WCU, both maps are running the terrain system at its limits.

If the devs were interested in pushing the terrain system to accept larger heightmaps, a boost in WCU's size might be on the table, but that's a big development, and some of the larger mod maps have demonstrated that going bigger has stability problems with nearly every tool and feature. It would also probably require a partial rework of even the extant parts of the map, so my money's on it being outside the scope of a ~5 month development cycle.

What video are you talking about?

Personally, I really hope that this is true. Sure, WCUSA was just updated with tunnels, but the map has gone 4 years without a big update. I would love to see this map get some more love.

    yeah
if i was remastering it, i would add a massive mall you could drive through
    a mudkickers inspired offroad park
something kind of like the universal backlot
a redesigned redwood area + beach
    and maybe a mansion

Even if this thred isn't a ideas and suggestion thread, I totally agree with your suggestions. I personnaly made this map, which I put on my huge idea list (https://www.beamng.com/threads/a-huge-list-of-ideas-and-suggestions-its-dense-but-read-it-plz.81496/). It would come with extending the map...

I'd like to add a big parc with paths and an underground subway.

Anyway, even if this map need some more love, we should wait until we have new teasers (hope they'll come again soon !) to really speculate about hypothetical remaster / ameliorations.

I'm pretty sure it was metioned by the devs that extending this map would require redoing the terrain from scratch so that's not happening.

Okay, I'm not a map maker so I didn't know that.
Do you know where this information was ?

It was on some thread where someone suggested that the map should be extended, it was months ago before it even had its little revamp, back when it still had some clipping road tiles and stuff

Personally, I think that the Bolide is about to be updated. If you go into the Bolide and look at the engine, there are no engine mount or oil pan slots.

I'm going to be the one to tell you that that is one of the main things this thread has been focused on and we all agreed on.
