I have made my self (might upload later becuse is not done yet) a winter tire mod, but now I am woundering how can a chance the grip on ice beyond changing the contact surface to metal with out having to chance the off ice grip? Becuse now then i slide of the ice there is a big risk the car will flip becuse it has over 2.5 times the normal grip for it to have good grip on ice (after that I have chanced the contact surface to metal). As a second question I have edited some one else's mod and the game now things in some ways these two mods are the same one becuse the ID is the same but how do you know that to set it to if you are creating a new mod?
There really isn't any difference between how the tire physics work on ice vs asphalt except that ice has lower static and sliding coefficient of friction values and asphalt has higher values. There isn't any sort of ground penetrating physics for simulating studded tires. So I don't think there is a proper solution at the moment. For your second question, you can remove the whole mod_info folder since it gets generated automatically with the subfolder assigned a random ID when you upload your mod to the mod repository page.
Thanks on the second part. But on the first part there is diffrent size's of studs and I am trying to make studded rally tires and the ones in beamng is like 2mm but rally ones are 7mm and that's a BIG problem. --- Post updated --- Or, is there some way to edit the studs grip with out editing the rubbers grip?
no, in the tire's .json file you can just change from rubber to metal and get studs, but I found out that by looking in a mod so I was wondering if there is a way to change the grip level (the lengh) of the studs with out change the level on the rubber. (sorry for late response, my class started and my teacher is a bit older so she didn't let me use my school laptop).
Then that's a badly made mod, a tire like this behaves like one giant stud and must have terrible grip on all surfaces. Currently it isn't possible to do this properly.
But, on ice it's perfect so I think there was an per idea. So there is no way to change the stud grip individually to the rubber grip, devs?
could you look at my mod (will link it when I get home, becuse don't have acess to it) I think it works pretty good as long as you don't end up in the ditch.
Attention! the mod ID is the same as Race15tires.zip/Cheapest race tires! (the later is in game but the first is the file name) so you can't run these to mods at the same time this is becuse I have used that mod as a base, but I will fix this shortly. But this is the mod that "are currently not possible" to make but it works perfectly fine, except that on pavement the car flips... That's becuse it has to much grip becuse I wont rally tires, and the metal adds grip on ice compared to pavement. I originally forgot to change to metal on the front tires and the car would not drive right (could not get it sideways on a winter rally stage becuse it would understeer instead).
yeah, I found out how to make studded winter tires from looking at IYB's mod and there is more grip on ice compared to pavement (look at previous post for exampel). But, this hole thread is (was) about if there was a way to change the ice grip separately from the pavement grip. But you can still use the tires just fine on the rally forest winter map, so you 100% can make studded winter tires, and if you want street winter tires the pavement problem is not there becuse just changing to metal and that is enough grip on ice. But I think that for a future update it would not be to hard to just add an option in the tire files that's ads the ability to change the ice grip multiplier (could be so that only the winter tires needs to have that line of code (blank is default/like now)). (I am from sweden so I am used to winter driving and winter tires).
