I have an odd problem that doesn't seem to have a solution online. I like to customize my in-game cars, including the colors, and when I do, occasionally the new color I have chosen will not appear on the car when I select it for play. It is replaced by a stock color. In more extreme cases, my custom car is entirely replaced by one of the in-game cars.

For example, if I choose a Hirochi Sunburst, paint it red, and save the new custom car, it will appear in the game as yellow. It only happens to certain individual cars, and happens every time to that particular car. If I recolor the car red and save it again, it will again appear in the same incorrect color. I think it is the color of the default display car in the model selection screen (e.g. yellow for Sunburst, lime green for Vivace).

Once, the Sunburst loaded with almost none of its custom features. It's a virtually stock 1.8 in yellow with a sunroof (which I didn't have in my custom). It saved only my custom wheels (in the wrong color).

I created a Vivace street racer and the custom car was completely replaced with one of the Vivace stock cars.

Some cars do save as designed.

Lately, I've tried to fix the problem by making changes to the car in small increments before each save. This has so far worked for the first car I tried it on.

Does anyone know why this is happening or how to prevent it?

    Thanks.

Could you send your custom *.pc from your
    folder?

This behavior is really weird. Experimented with some custom part configs the last time and it worked great got no problems.
Is there any conflict with some modded parts?
Are there any messages in the console?

Oh, and for the part config, a Screenshot from the car before saving and after saving could help.

Thanks for the prompt and sincere response. I'll work on those requests.

I'm not sure what you mean by messages in the console.

You can open the InGame Console by pressing the tilde key (For me German Keyboard it's the Ö key).
In this console, you can see every upcoming error message.
Now try to load your car with the oddest behavior, and if there are new messages, you can post a Screenshot of them here.

One thing is really important to try. Clean your installation.
If you have some broken mods, they could be the reason for this problem. (Clean Cache, Disable All Mods, try again)

    Hope you get it fixed.

I’m starting the game by double-clicking the “BeamMP-Launcher” shortcut.

I’m running only one mod, which is the multiplayer (multiplayerbeammp). My other mods (all entire cars—no parts) are deactivated.

Both of my custom Vivaces load in the game as stock cars in the lime green color.

The Sunburst car with police markings loads with yellow Turbo Rabbit fender flares.

A red Sunburst used to load with all the customization but with yellow color, rather than the custom scarlet red I created. Now the same car loads as a stock yellow car.

I just realized that the cars that are no saving have 0 bytes for their pc files. I can’t send the corrupt one. I saved one that loads correctly.

It's a really rare bug with certain colors that don't save correctly for some reason, there is nothing you can do except choosing different colors and saving as new config after deleting the old one (and even then it's still possible that it won't save correctly again)

It seems to be ongoing. The only technique that may have worked is creating the custom gradually, saving between every three changes or so. Also, I'm beginning to save copies of the pc files in another folder.

It's frustrating because customization is one of the most important parts of the game for me.

By the way, this problem began with an install on another computer, and I since re-downloaded the game on my current computer, and the same problem has persisted. I might completely remove the Vehicles folder and start with an empty one.

Thanks for the responses, folks. I hadn't been getting here or in the Facebook group any until you two.

It's not related to a fresh install, it's a bug that happens to everyone since the last hotfix, it is caused by the game sometimes using wrong brackets when saving colors which makes part of the save file (or the whole file) unreadable. Idk what causes this specifically, seems to be completely random but happens on certain colors more often than others.

I emptied my "vehicles" folder last night and reloaded only a previously customized Miramar and three Sunbursts (one was my default). I modified that Miramar and made a new Miramar, and everything seemed good (maybe solved?) until I went back to customize a new Vivace.

I took a Vivace Race (Sequential) and made some modifications, including coloring it self-created maroon, and then saved in-game--and saved a copy of the pc file on my desktop. I drove it around a bit before opening one of my Sunbursts.

When I opened the custom Vivace again, all the modifications were in place, except the car was now lime green ("Vert Arsenic"); only the color had been changed. I then restarted the game, and when I opened the custom car again, it had been replaced with a Vert Arsenic Vivace S 410Q Arsenic (DCT), the car displayed in the "Vehicles" display garage.

This has happened to a couple of my Sunbursts, but not all of them. I don't think any of my Miramars have done this.

EDIT: And FYI, I thought it was only certain colors for a while, but I've had problems with some of my Sunbursts with my custom purple color, and other cars with the exact same color scheme (at least Paint 1 and Paint 3 colors, not sure about Paint 2) have no trouble.
