Big chungus or no, I still hope they add the fridge in so as someone said earlier, we could smash into it with the T-series.
Can confirm that the street lighting in the picture is new as the only area lit up on Utah is the service station right now. Also it looks far better than the lighting currently in game! (on ultra btw and of course the mattress was ideal)
my guess, they're reworking a lot of stuff in the engine, since PBR was implemented last update, theyre probably finishing all the lighting related stuff, including PBR'ing the maps. hmm, maybe also implementing tire wear and stuff
well with the pessima stuff, the new car announcement and now the implication of working street lights i feel like we're in for either a very big update or a lot of upcoming updates
PBR actually makes a lot of sense. i'm not sure all the maps will be done, but, given the lamp itself, the much more natural looking light, and the caption for the new car's teaser, it's pretty obvious there are some map revisions going on (likely including WCUSA's traffic lights)
Plus they are probably planning to add traffic lights into more places, which could also mean the need for the new the lighting in the streets
The map this is on is Utah, and it is probably right near where the campground. This makes sense as Utah has the least light fixtures (currently non-functional) in the game. I don't know/care the order that this feature gets added to maps, but Italy will most likely be last. I find the fridge ironic, mainly because there is only one fridge mod for BeamNG, and it came from JsZ, who is now banned for stealing models and claiming them as his own.
Ok so at this time we can say that will come in 0.24 : -Pessima remaster -A new car -A fridge -Lightning
I would love to see dynamic weather as well, but that is for when the game is nearing its completed state, which we are not even close to. I think you meant lighting. Also, it takes forever to bug check, which we are all grateful for, but it might mean that neither the new car nor the Pessima remaster is coming in this update. The fridge is a little, basic prop that looks like it is either done or really close to completion. It is certainly coming this update.
I don't see anything spectacular in lights on that screen. Lamp looks the same as it is now, light quality also looks like nothing new (there are ECUSA and WCUSA mod maps with lights that looks basically the same, maybe optimization is better?) and I don't see PBR to be honest here. The only thing is... well, the fridge that looks good.
The thing i noticed instantly was the one thing weighing the beamng lighting down DARKER SHADOWS IN REGULAR SHADOWS HALLELUJAH
I can’t be the only one who hopes this fridge is colorable just like the one from jsz. It adds to the “hideous 80s fridge color variety” thing.
I tried to recreate the exact same scene, and I found the exact same spot (it's in the camping area, in front of the toilets) I took a photo with a wood crate, and here is the result : Then, I realised that the lamps didn't make as much light as in the spooky teaser, so I had an idea : what if I put cars with headlights on instead of light spots ? So, I identified 3 lights spots : the lamp behind the fridge, one in front of it and the toilets on the side But I had a problem : after making some horrible stuff to my three Vivaces with headlights on (pretty sorry for my non node grabber skill), I realised that the light depends of what car is selected ! (That's the exact same with the reflection on the car's paint for example). That's why I made three screenshots, one per car, and here is the result : We can see that they are some lightning differences between the three images, and between now and the teaser ! So maybe, with working lights in maps, we'll have some kind of "Light remaster" or something like this
Those aren't actually light flares, that's just the bloom that comes from a material with "glow" and "emissive" enabled. Hate to break it, but it looks like the dark spot we're seeing is just the junction between the shadows of two spot lights. Sadly, I don't think that BeamNG lighting is going to support full global illumination.
