Hey everyone in Beamng land, I got a question. I get my mods from a site and whenever I start playing and change vehicles I see the vehicle name, but it also see the website on the side. If I download the mods from the Beamng Drive site, then will I also get the website on the side or no? Just want to get my game organized and easier to see what cars I'm selecting.
No, that isn't a good place to get mods. BeamNG actually has the mods in their true form. No crap comes with them. I'd also censor out the website. Interesting credits they have there.
Ok cool thanks for the info! I will defiantly delete all these mods and get the Beamng versions instead.
I would start by deleting mods from that website and only getting mods on the Beamng forums. The mods from other websites are either stolen content or really low quality. Also please remove the website from the first post.
Its more of not giving them traffic and allowing them ad money from content the people have created for the forum.
Oh ok I catch what your saying. I removed the website... Those guys can screw themselves lol Team Beamng all the way!!!!
Now we've reached a conclusion on what to do with those mods in the first place I thought I'd share how to rename them anyway. If you open a vehicles folder there should be a file with the .jbeam extension and the filename matching the folder name. For example the hatch folder has hatch.jbeam inside it. Code: { "hatch": { "information":{ "authors":"gabester", "name":"Ibishu Covet", } These are the first few lines of hatch.jbeam, inside you can see the line: "name":"Ibishu Covet", That is what the vehicle will display as ingame. It needs changing. That is all.
This is only for the parts system (and for some weird reason I can't figure out, the "Ibishu Covet" part in all of the jbeams is omitted ingame, as goes for Gabester's other vehicles) To change the display name from the vehicle selection menu, open the file called "name.cs" and change to whatever you like
I don't know why people always have to say something non relative to the topic ... instead of giving simple reply: Edit the name.cs file, located in /car/ root folder, using notepad It has a line like this in it: %vehicleName = "BMW 760Li E66"; just edit the vehicle name in the quotes, then save the file. I have like 200+ mods from other websites, because this forum here seems bit inactive, there's just not much to choose from and there is no download section either, it's pain in the butt to find anything, i only saw like 20 released vehicles in showroom .. that's all. I can't find what i am looking for, so i have to go to other websites to download them. On some other websites, you can simply click on car manufacturer and it lists all the vehicles in that category, there are so many to choose from! this is why people download mods from other websites.
Yes, but most of those mods are quite poorly done. Most of them are a video game model copied on a slightly modified default n/b, and the result is your car turning into spikes whenever you crash. Quality over Quantity, it's important. And yes, I don't have the badge, but i'm not a pirate, I've looked up several of these mods on youtube and watched the videos. Some were good, most were bad. There's a popular mods channel called "BeamNG Mods" on youtube that posts these videos. Look at this for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7gDIODugQI You can even see the n/b is just the bolide, not even any modifications, or any actual work put into the car. Copied the model from Forza or whatever and slapped it on a default n/b.
