Hi, I'm creating a mod with lots of roads, It was working fine until today when it started to eat up all of my RAM when loading and crashing the game, I only have 8GB of ram in my PC. What is going wrong?
I don't think it's generally a good idea to use the World Editor on a laptop. Last time I tried this some updates ago, it crashed the game. It was a few updates ago, idk maybe it got better now, but still it's better to do this on a PC.
Well but I don't have a Gaming PC and I can't afford one! But I will see if I can get one very soon! Christmas is around the corner and I will have a good think!
Of course! I build one myself! Prebuilt PCs are ok if you are a novice at PCs (Which I'm thankfully not!) The same if you want someone else to build it. I have a neighbour that I'm good friends with that this a computer expert and has built PCs.
But the thing is that it's only happening on a map called "Australian Road Link: https://www.beamng.com/resources/australian-road.20443/" I'm working on another map called "SIckminecraft45 Raceway" that loads fine! On the left is "Australian Road" loading. On the right is "Sickminecraft45 Raceway" loading. As you can see on Task Manager As you can see on Task Manager my RAM my RAM is at 99% usage! is at a better 64% usage.
Well, if your map is too big in size or using some HQ textures, that's likely your reason. 8GB just isn't enough anymore in the gaming world, especially not for BeamNG.
What do I do? It was working fine until I added a road. --- Post updated --- It's fixed now! all I had to do was to replace the forest folder in the mod files!
bad idea parts are hard af to get anymore, especially at a nominal/logical price if you really want a gaming pc, then go for a prebuilt thats the only way you can get an rtx in your pc rn, cuz bots buy GPUs and then resell them for mad prices you could save your money up and buy a prebuilt pc with rtx + i7/i9 for a normal ish price (1500-1700 quids, idk about american money)
But I hate prebuilt for two reasons. 1: They come with Windows 10 home which everybody hates! 2: They usually have a really nice 8 core Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7, but have a crappy GTX 1660 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and barely any storage! For the first problem, it costs $200 AUD to upgrade to Win 10 pro from home. It only costs like $25 AUD to buy a product key and you can make a WIn 10 USB For free! So prebuilt are alright for PC/computer novice. I'm not a PC novice, I'm a PC guru! By the way, I fixed the issue. so this thread is closed.
Yes with an i5 or Ryzen 5, but with an i7 or Ryzen 7 I at least want an RTX 2060 Super at the very minimum.
The RTX 2060 Super has 8GB of VRAM compared to the 6GB in the GTX 1660. Here is a benchmark comparing the two cards: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2060S-Super-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1660/4049vs4038
That's the good thing about actual PCs and not laptops, its easier to take out parts you dont want and put better stuff in. And its super easy to downgrade (or rather UPGRADE) to 7 or 8 (or Linux) if you don't like 10. That's what I did. --- Post updated --- See if your laptop has room for another RAM stick and buy some.
