You know how in DiRT and NFS there is a race line.... and the AI follow the race line.... well what if there was a race line for the Ai to follow in this one and have zones for the ai to slow down before a turn and speed up and ECT. as for the objects in the way just tell the AI to follow race line as close as possible then to avoid ANY and all collisions ... basically have it flee player then follow race line and for it to dynamically switch from flee to fight when it needs to (i.e. if hit the AI will try and hit back and when it has done a reasonably hard hit it will go from fight to flee mode and vise versa) and i think a good amount of cars should be either 6 or 8 cars because 6 is good enough for FPS and competition and 8 is also fine for FPS and competition but it could (possibly) handle 12 in HIGH end PCs ... just a thought
I think that the devs are working on an advanced AI system, which if I recall utilities a number of "checkpoints" in which the AI is programmed to follow. I know they are using a system loke this for race timing, and I'm pretty sure they have mentioned plans for AI, I'm just not entirely sure whether it will work the way I suggested or not. Also, you should use the search bar before making threads so easily, as I'm sure AI has been suggested before

This is the first time I'm seeing anything about devs making AI, and anything about race line AI. So...
I remember a discussion about this before, but I'm wondering how derbies will work. I personally think the ai should be more prone to go after cars that have the least amount of deformation. And it would be great to have team derbies or banger races, but I'm unsure how difficult it would be to get them to not run through you on the way to your opponents. A bit complicated for me.
