Yeah so one time in Theo's discord server where he introduces a new SUV mod i was like "Wouldn't be funny if it was a luxury division of Hirochi?"
Update! It’s been a hell of a while since my last update on this thread, nearly a month infact, so I’m not gonna include absolutely everything, but here’s the general idea of what I’ve been doing. —PRE 0.24— Firstly, I continued the redesigned bumper and got it in game… …then added a bumper support… (with) (without) …which was when I realised I really needed to improve overall crash safety. Small improvements, but it’s a step in the right direction. Then I decided to crash a K-Series into the side of it and discovered yet more lack of safety. …but that’s being improved later. Then I brought back the old styling with small edits to match the detail of the current styling: …onto the rear. Boot detail added, with numberplate lights, rear light housing and rear glass housing. (both upper and lower) …and a JBeam model for both halves to be put in game with. Top half in game! …with hydraulics of course. …and the bottom half! Both together: (yes I forgot to mention the rear bumper, I somehow didn’t take any pictures of it) …onto the engine I guess… Exhaust in! Radiator in! (with custom fan shroud and piping) …back onto the rear… Rear light buckets! Rear quarter lights in… …and the boot’s lightbar… (I made them separate into 3 pieces, making the whole rear light cluster 5 pieces) Polyflow update: …which @Nacho Problem saw and told me to make improvements to the rear quarter and wheel arch, increasing polycount and making it all overall neater. …to crash safety… Many crash safety improvements, with better body stiffness, and better dispersion of impact across the front. Which leads me to that side impact, which is still stupidly unsafe. It might not look too bad until you see… …the interior. Imagine being the passenger in here, that’s like half of your footwell filled and a door card completely rammed into you by a 40mph impact. …so I made it a lot stronger. The doors aren’t much better (I improved the locks and impact strength later) but the body holds itself in shape a lot better. (These images have already been posted but for the sake of comparison I’ll post them again) …to the front… Theo was nagging me to make this to tidy things up, so here’s an undertray: …and in game… (backmost triangles were turned into non-collision triangles due to suspension stress) I’ll end it off here as I’ve got a lot more to go through and I don’t wanna make you guys bored after already reading this much. I’ll post another later or something, thanks for you guys’ interest in the car so far! Part #2 on post #178.
man i dont know why but this is the type of car that drives karens you know what karens are but i like this car
Update (Part 2)! So, I said I hadn’t updated people on everything, which still holds true of course, so here’s the second part to the update. This is continuing from the front undertray. Side cover panels modelled… (Since it’s not super obvious, here’s an outline) …out of the internals, onto the long-awaited glass. Windscreen installed! …with a temporary Roamer texture. Side glass… …and rear glass (quarters and upper boot) …which draws a very quick finish to the glass. It’s not gonna get a break texture until I make my own main texture, so here’s how it looks right now: M Rubber seal between the engine and the windscreen… I think it’s for sound insulation? Now to separate the side skirts, which means modelling a support on the body. Side steps! This included a slight lowering of the standard skirts. …and in game. Next, the wingmirrors, for most the hardest part of modelling a car. …and the mirror bit: It’s a modern car, so I can’t just leave it as a simple block, so I added a little bit of silver trim which also attached the indicator. …and, finally, the stand. Now to get it in game. (temporary Roamer JBeam to see how it looked, but it was attached in the wrong place and far far too small so I changed it a lot) The general bodywork is done! I think it’s ready for some detail, starting with the bumper. This is gonna be based on this design which I posted a month or so back… …which I got in blender… …then started modelling, with the side vents first. …then the lower centre vent… …then the upper… …which, except for potential edits later on, means the front bumper is finished! Some cool pictures taken by @Theo Wilkinson and motion-blurred by me. So, I’ve got the front bumper detailed, but what about the rear? It’s a lot more bland at the moment with only a simple black diffuser, and it needs reflectors at least. This means I need to design another thing, so I added to the rear lightbar design I did at the same time I did the frontal counterpart. (centre panel gap is a tow hitch cover) Then I got it in blender, and started modelling it. …and added the tow hitch cover. And, finally, I got it in game. …with the tow hitch cover as a separable part. That’s where we’re at today! Thanks for reading this far, and hope to see you guys on the thread! Next update on post #223!
That's coming along REALLY nicely! Those photos taken one the front was done already look like they could be put in a brochure lol Once again, take your time with this amazing mod and Godspeed!
