Yep, just noticed this! The Subframes are a structural part of the Race Independent Suspensions and the ability to change their colour is tied to the "Paint 3" area! And it also changes the colour of the fire graphics on the livery!

I remember seeing somewhere in the Patch Notes a reference to the chassis codes of the Pessimas (VM301 and VM501) but I can't find this reference now.

Looks like they removed it from patch notes, it was probably put there by mistake because this feature is not implemented yet. And we only knew the Pessima chassis codes, no other cars, I wonder what the others are.

Yeah, looks like they removed them.
I think the chassis codes are two because the Pessima generations are also two. There are no subliminal messages to see here.

My theory is that the first number in the code stands for the generation, so the old pessima would be gen 3 and new pessima would be gen 5. But obviously we aren't getting other gens any time soon so it can't be confirmed.

Now that I think of it, it could be true since there's a 4-model year gap between the 1988 - 1991 Pessima and the 1996 - 2000 one, meaning there could be a "VM401", 1992 - 1995 generation slot in between.
Also, the difference in length between the two existing generations is about 30cm/1ft. In other words, too large for it being able to be justified by just an one-gen succession. There could be a "VM401", 1992-1995 gen slot in between, being larger than the preceding 1988 Pessima and smaller than the succeeding 1996 one.

Old Pessima 4 years, new Pessima 5 years, this one would be 4 years, not short for Pessima standards

It's what IRL Japanese car generations lasted back in the 70s, 80s and 90s, they changed a generation every 4 model years or so.

It's actually modeled after 1999 BTCC Honda Accord. Same flames and everything.

I was doing research on the Toyota Camry from around 1990-2000 and found they had sold a narrower version in Japan (to place it into a cheaper tax bracket for vehicles) but since it would be seen as compromising in the US and other countries, sold a wider version Internationally. If any JDM configurations of the car are made, are there any plans to implement narrower JDM versions or just leaving them as standard width?

I would think not, that seems like more work than it's worth.
it also changes things up by not having every 90s ibishu get both USDM and JDM variants.

Yeah, the '96 Pessima is 1.78 m wide - which is substantially over the 1.7 m limit for "regular cars" in Japan. It's the only Ibishu vehicle to go over this limit from stock, too - every other Ibishu is below 1.7 m in width, with the Pigeon being the narrowest in-game vehicle, at 1.34 m.

If it were to be sold in Japan EDIT: in its current market position, it'd have to be modified so much, it might as well be an entirely different car. I think you could get away with making the fenders, bumpers, and doors narrower, but that'd also potentially require whole new suspensions, which could be a maintenance nightmare for such a simple vehicle.

I think it'd be more likely for the '96 Pessima to get EUDM variants instead of JDM - although, some variants could be JDM. The third-gen Prelude had a status-symbol variant for the Japanese market called the "SiStates", which had a 2.1L engine and a 1.71-m width - both placing it into much higher tax and insurance brackets. However, that'd be more fitting for an '88 Pessima variant, but even the USDM GTZ has the narrow fenders of the regular configs (1.69 m wide), so I don't think that that's happening for that Pessima, either.

And, of course, if it's going to get EUDM variants, it might as well get a diesel or two - or more.

I really hate having to look at the wrong clock 3:45 all the time - even mods have working clocks, so why not official car?

Yes, it's not the best experience not having a functional clock. And this continues on, with the remastered '96 Pessima and the Covet.

When the clock strikes 13, it's time to buy a new clock (in the united states only).
