@Fluffy Panda Have the Beamng Dev Team done any testing on this issue?

    Thanks

It still goes to deep sleep if it’s not being used very much. When you’re gaming just set a minimum clock speed in Radeon settings and it’ll follow it. I set mine so it’s high enough that the clock speed doesn’t dip but it still goes up occasionally (so abt 700mhz)

I have also been having performance issues. Im running at 1080p with standard safe mode settings. worst map seems is italy but i have seen a drastic decrease in performance across most maps that id useually be able to run on higher settings at much higher fps. Hope this helps and look forward to improvements.
If i try to use my usual setting id get around 50fps but lower on other maps.

I also have performance problems since i changed my graphics card from a GTX1080 to a RX6700XT.
    FPS drops and unstable frametimes.
With the old GPU i only had problems (low fps) with 3 or more AI on the map, i guess because of CPU limit.

    Support ID: 118772

Settings low or high doesn't make a difference.
Latest drivers and bios are installed.

    Full Setup:
    Ryzen 3 3300X
    4x 8GB DDR4 8GB 3200
    Sapphire RX 6700 XT Pulse
    Seasonic Focus Plus 550W
    Asus B550-E
    27" WQHD
    Crucial P2 2TB SSD

Nice to see the Dev Team is finally looking into this issue although I'm surprised that they do not have comparable nvidia and amd gpus in their own PCs in order to be able to witness this issue themselves. I hope they find a solution soon as it would be disappointing to have to return my AMD card only for this game.

    I could solve the problem.

Simply activate Custom Tuning in the AMD Driver, and set the "Min Frequency" 100 MHz lower than "Max Frequency", in my case 2549/2649 MHz.
It only lets me set the frequency 100MHz apart.

Much higher FPS and more stable frametimes.

I added two screenshots of my settings, in english and german.

Hello, i just finished building my new PC today and sadly found out that it performs very poorly in BeamNg drive. Sometimes the performance is what i would expect (180+ fps on hurochi raceway on ultra for example) but often it just runs horrible with microstutters when driving with multiple people in beamMP and sometimes super low fps (54fps in driver view on ultra on west coast circuit for example). My PC specs are:
    Ryzen 5 5600x 4.7GHz all core OC
    32gb 3600MHz DDR4
    2x 1tb 970 EVO Samsung SSD
    AMD Radeon RX 6900XT

Yeah, this game isn’t optimized at all for amd cards. What’s happening to you is normal

    Hardware : Ryzen 9 5900X, Radeon RX 6900 XT, RAM 32 GB, 3440 x 1440 @144 Hz.

First I can't say that this issue is stuttering, freezing or unexpected FPS drop.
It is more about a global under-exploitation of the GPU resources.

Before to post the requested screenshots, let's look at the following ones.

In Assetto Corsa Competizione, with Epic video settings (the highest), you can see the GPU power consumption is at 296 W and frequency at 2515 Mhz. This is full load.

    AssettoCorsaCompetizione_20220102-1444.jpg

In BNG, with High video settings, you see the consumption is only at 100 W and frequency at 1152 Mhz.

    BeamNGdrive_20220102-1442.jpg

FPS is displayed at top left of screen.

Game : BeanNG High settings | ACC Epic settings
    FPS : 75 | 110
    GPU % : 69 | 98
    Watt : 101 | 296
    Mhz : 1152 | 2515
    CPU % : 8 | 14

It looks like BNG is not feeding the GPU like it should, GPU can eat a lot more but there's not enough to eat.
I also tried to fix minimum GPU frequency but it doesn't help, CPU is still not fed like it needs.

Notice that I deactivated frame limiter, FreeSync or any GPU limit, and no custom overclock is set.

The same situation as previous but with 12 AI:

    BeamNGdrive_20220102-1442_1.jpg

Game : BeanNG no AI | BeamNG 12 AI
    FPS : __75 | 42
    GPU % : 69 | 84
    Watt : 101 | 73
    Mhz : 1152 | 643
    CPU % : 8 | 33

You can see that GPU is even more under-exploited than before, power consumption goes from 101 to 73, frequency from 1152 to 643!
GPU usage goes from 69 to 84 % but I doubt this represents the full capacity percentage, power consumption and frequency seem to be a better measure of what happens.

Also why is FPS dropping so much with 12 AI when CPU is used only at 33 % and GPU under-exploited? Is it cause of AI running on a single CPU thread or something like this?

So actually, to be able to play stable 140 FPS, in ACC I use High settings and GPU is not even at full load, and in BNG I have to use Low settings, but I lose this FPS as soon as I enable AI (FPS with Low settings and 12 AI is ~ 90 FPS).

Also note that actually that other issue is impacting performances too.

Now the requested screenshots with Performance Graph (High settings, with FreeSync and 140 FPS limiter set in radeon software):

That's my everyday fps, and on lowest lol.
OT, interestingly it doesn't seem to affect AMD integrated graphics, i never experienced any kind of stuttering or any weird thing. It runs better than my old 940m.

Aren't you the guy who was telling me there was something wrong with my 6900XT when it was underperforming in BeamNG in another post? LOL

I run the game on the lowest settings and the weird thing is from the screenshot I'm getting very high fps.

What I’ve found with this is it doesn’t really fix the problem, it just causes the gpu to be used less because it runs faster. Disabling deep sleep fixes the stuttering but the game still just doesn’t use the gpu enough
