Hey, so since we got our first official convertible in the form of the targa Bolide , I wondered if the targa variant has worse chassis rigidity compared to it's hardtop counterpart? Does BeamNG model chassis rigidity? Is there any way to test it? Thanks.
It is not the first convertible, Hopper was first, then Wigeon. And it's easy to test that rigidity is indeed different. Some convertibles have reinforced floor to make up for the lack of roof in terms of rigidity, in this case it doesn't seem to be reinforced too much if at all.
If its anything like my Corvette, go find some bumps to drive over. When the roof is off, the mid section will probably wiggle like a dog wagging its tail. The biggest time I notice in my car is when I drive over a set of railroad tracks at an angle to the road... the whole car twists pretty drastically when hitting those off time successive bumps. Granted, my Vette is a Targa and not a true "Convertible" so it may not be reinforced the same amount... but you get the idea.
Tire damage, tire temperature (!!!), paint damage, material fatigue - the list goes on but yeah, BeamNG is in a league of its own.
