so the wheels work fine until i play on older maps it's a problem with several mods i've used also try playing in safe mode and enable only this mod and see it it's good if so then the problem is on your end and has nothing to do with the mod it's just your mods breaking this one
I'll get to the point: for someone who has made a number of quality repository mods in the past, this Defender mod for BeamNG isn't too shabby. At least you put in the effort as much as possible, in spite of the community's general attitude towards mesh-slap mods lately. That being said, as some have pointed out, the suspension is still too soft. When accelerating at full throttle, the vehicle appears to be performing a Carolina Squat. I may have seen a few Defender 4-doors out in the wild, but I can tell you that the suspension setup should be stiffer than what's implemented right now. As for the wheel issue according to others, the rim mesh doesn't fit the tire mesh exactly on my end (at the time of writing this message). You can see this below: And finally, I have addressed the steering wheel being off-centered. The updated model file is attached to this message, so feel free to verify that it works correctly as intended before incorporating into the main mod (clear cache before testing). Otherwise, that's pretty much all I have to say about the mod. Kudos to you for bringing over a modern large SUV to BeamNG, since that segment is lacking at the moment.
New update! Look below for details Not for the time being, but the door is opened to many things. Thank you so much for the steering fix! The other issues should be fixed now, so with this, here is the changelog: Two option for rims available now, fully black and two-tone (the blue Defender config now has the two-tone as standard, thumbnail updated to reflect that) Fixed tire not matching the rim position The rear spare wheel cover is now metallic in color Steering wheel rotation fixed (thanks to @baarry5444) Suspension improved (thanks to @dumpling)
With the amount of dedication to improvements to this mod, this could possibly become one of the best mods out there in the near future, while still acknowledging the fact that it is a meshslap. Keep up the great work
Thank you! That's definitely the goal, with my efforts and people helping out, I want this to be as fine as possible, if only the digital cluster could work as intended...that's still a pebble in my shoe. Also...guess what. Update! Sorry to be this crazy, but I keep finding things to improve, and here is a good one, I forgot about the mirror indicators! They were part of the plastic until now, but they are now working as intended --- Post updated --- Update #2 (and final) of the night! Fixed spare tire cover being deformed after a few seconds (you could see the DEFENDER text get deformed) Added rear foglights! (They toggle at the same time with the front ones)
Having driven the Defender myself (and not to sound too critical, great work on the mod guys), but in my experience, the suspension is actually further from realistic now than it was before it was stiffened. Range Rovers, including the Defender, have a floaty feel that you're wafting down the road. Yes it was a bit excessive the first time around, but with this suspension update it's like riding on wooden wheels with no shock absorption - so much so that I've deleted the new update and retrieved the original download from my Recently Deleted folder. Otherwise great job team. I'm proud of you guys!
Very glad to hear the feedback! I will be looking into the suspension more and hopefully create a better version
Anytime I would help with resources but the Defender experience I have is with my Uncle's, whom I usually only see on Thanksgiving. This is the best video I can provide for exterior camerawork showing the ride quality and commenting on it (7:30). I'm not sure if this is helpful, but you can see in the video how it soaks up dips and minor vibrations, and you can see it floats where the road crests at the top - kind of similar to the suspension pre-update.
Currently working on the new suspension fix, thank you for the resource and I will make sure to try my best on creating the most realistic suspension I can
some bugs that still need to improve: Weird textures behind the back seats and rear bumper. All the concealed lights are stick to the front bumper. (and yeah, invisible inner bumper) The tow hitch seems not connected to any parts. Smaller taillights don't separate from the bigger ones. Rear turn signals should blink all of 4, not only the smaller ones. *sry I don't know that non-USDM Defender have these turn signals, but I think it's interesting to make USDM config* Missing inner panel. btw I'm so fun to play with this mod, I hope someday it will be the greatest mod of this year.
Rear turn signals are correct for non usdm market, saw one here in India, and the turn signals are the small 2 dots
Ok, so besides fixing some of the latest stuff I've seen reported here and on Discord, I decided to address one of the biggest requests/complains so far with a big overhaul, I'm working on enabling a skin system for the interior, so multiple choices can be selected. Right now I'm finishing the new UVs, so hopefully today or tomorrow will be done.
