Microsoft just released drivers for the Xbox One controller and I edited the 360 controller map and changed some things around. If anyone can tell me or figure out how to map the bumpers so I can make left bumper the clutch, that would be great. If you have any suggestions please tell me, or if you have any problems I can try to help. This is where you can put the input map. "(folder)\BeamNG.drive\scripts\client\inputmaps" The drivers are included in the zip with the input map but if you want to download it separately you can get the drivers is here: http://majornelson.com/2014/06/05/p...-one-controller-available-now/?linkId=8424381 The controller map is pretty much like Forza with some tweaks.
Since I do not own a ps3 or a ps4 controller I wouldn't be able to create an input map. There are programs that will make your ps3/ps4 controller emulate a 360 controller and it should work natively with BeamNG without a custom input map. Here is one for the ps4 controller: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4-To-XInput-Wrapper
I believe there is a bug, whenever I change the map the controller no longer works. It's a bit strange
Thank you for finding that, I will try to figure it out and get back to you with a fix or a new version of the input map.
I noticed, that compared to the 360 controller I was using (with wireless dongle, not wired) there was barely any deadzone in the steering, so it would ever so slightly have an angle at the wheel which obviously translated to uncontrollable vehicles above 20 mph...with this new driver and input map, i notice that the steering is dead accurate, and has a nice deadzone... this may be due to the fact that the first few lines, where it says "camera things", there is a deazone value. I think it was set at 15%. There were 2 instances of this value, and before I even tried it out for the first time, i opened it up to check it out and changed the 2 15% values to 20% and saved it. Now its incredibly smooth and tracks dead-straight ahead. Was trying to get this to work for some weeks, by hacking it together, I managed to get windows to recognize the Controller and inputs, but Beamng did not notice all the hard work I went through. This tidbit of info is only meant to mean anything if, in fact, the 15% deadzone still has some play, I wouldnt know simply because I changed it to 20% initially and have been happy with it. 7 days bitches!
Well, my XBOX ONE didn't come with a USB thingy for controller... Can I use it wireless, if so how? If I cant, where can I get a USB cord that works with the controller's weird plug?
It's just a micro USB, you don't have a phone or Bluetooth device that uses one to charge? You can get one pretty much everywhere.
Well, it appears I don't have a micro usb... Fine cause BNG is giving trouble about updating to pre-race update so i'm probably not gonna play it for a while unless I can get that sorted out.
how do i make my xbox 360 controller work??? i have a wire that makes it a wired on so i need no batteries but is not working
After using the Xbox one controller for an hour or so, I've found that some buttons have no use, and I have a few ideas on how they could be used/how some already mapped ones could be moved to another button.. So hear me out.. First of all, the start/menu button (whatever you want to call it) on the controller could be used to stop physics rather than the up button on the d-pad, since the start buttons normal use in games is to pause.. Tthat being said, now the up d-pad button is free, and I think it could be used alongside the down d-pad button to go slow motion (down d-pad, like pressing alt-down on the keyboard) and to resume normal speed (up d-pad, like pressing alt-up on the keyboard) But where would the reset physics button go from there seeming as we just took its home as down d-pad? Y is probably the best answer, from looking at Forza games with the rewind function being activated with the Y button, and even racing in GTA V you need to hold the Y/Triangle button to reset, so it has worked before.. Any thoughts? Let me know, I will maybe see if I can toy around with the controls to make them like I suggested, but i have never done controller mapping before, So if somebody else, maybe even OP, would be willing to take a look and see if its possible?
sigh... That's a play and charge cable. That is strictly a power cord and does not transmit data through the cord so it wont work. you have to buy a wireless receiver or a wired controller. besides this thread is for xbox one not 360
sorry for the bump, but I need to reply to this thread so I can find it easier...im recovering my laptop and I don't want to have to comb through the forums again to find this. Works great btw, except I inverted (or un-inverted) the view, its annoying the way it is stock like this.
There's no scripts file in the BeamNG.drive file, I'm using windows 10. EDIT: Nevermind, turns out I don't need the driver because I'm using an Xbox one S controller which has Bluetooth.
