Glad there are at least a few sane people here, but there will always be shills and fools parting with their money defending these beggars. I remember back in 2015 when gape newell tried to make it a thing, but luckily it didn't take off then. But unfortunately with stupid platforms like patreon gaining popularity in just the past few years, a few in this new generation of "modders" found out they can just beg online to make a quick buck rather then make an effort to enter actual game development despite it's ills. I'm perfectly fine with making a one time payment for a mod that I know is high quality such as la canyons for assetto corsa, which is actually quite cheap for it's worth. But paying what is essentially a recurring subscription for some internet rando's monthly income is not something I'd like to do unless it goes towards someone like Bob Blunderton, who's actually a proper unselfish member in this specific community. Other very high quality mods like Project Shutoko Revival for Assetto Corsa don't require a penny, and the discrepancy between people who are willing to make high quality mods without asking a dime are too high for me to forgive these beggars. When these beggar mods aren't shoved in my face, I can easily ignore them. But when it's front and center like this it's very hard to ignore.
wait hold up its 10 dollars a month for this? considering that this is a patreon that he said specialized in WIP mods, that seems excessive 1 dollars, maybe 2 i could get behind as a one time payment, but 10 a month is starting to edge closer to basic streaming services money, for wip mods i feel thats a little extreme it also leads to a big eithics issue, where what is the mod continually has issues, and you cant cancel the patreon for fear of being left with the broken mod, or updates are delayed until the next month so people stick around longer? the more this goes on the worse and worse this looks for bailey
I could pay for the basic Netflix or Disney Plus plan, or I could pay for a random modder's patreon (a modder with very little experience or credibility). Almost anyone going the patreon route is inevitably going to force people into paying for longer with purposely delayed updates. And who's to say he doesn't just give up and abandon everyone who's paid him? It's a slippery slope
it gets worse once you look into the fact that he made this thread with the model fully 100% complete, with what he claims is 'his first vehicle mod' and dedicates the whole progress to simpyl making the jbeam for it? which is edited from the d series? this really is looking like a scam now, especially since he only says 'the model is locked' when we ask about it

its almost certain no one here is going to buy this mod the concern is for those kids who will use their parents credit card to buy beginner quality mods made by people simply looking to make a quick buck thats why we dont really enjoy having it advertised here

I could disagree. Depending on the tier patrons have access to not only "one single mod", usually its a collection of mods etc. Like i said in my opinion the key idea of using patreon is to have some sort of way to support the creator(s). Since i've done 3D modeling. ive started my own patreon which starts @ 30USD, up to 100$. Point being, spending 10$ a month does cost money, however I wouldn't think it would cause someone to financially be "doomed" If im not mistaken bailey stated final mods will be released only to trusted users (correct me if im wrong), if you'd consider yourself a "trustworthy" person, then wait until the release. Until then view patreon as supporting/donating to the creator.

yeah, that would make sense but, from what we are hearing right now, not only is this the only mod on this patreon, but its not even on there with a jbeam, and the patreon is open im sure and yes, 10 dollars isnt alot of money, two mod subs isnt a whole lot either, 20 a month, thats basically a netiflix subscription the issue comes when everyone does it, and since there is a HUGE modder turnover rate here, people would need to be subscribed to dozens of seperate patreons for decent, actually fresh mods thats if all of the currently large creators used your patreon model with your price, it might cost the average beamng user maybe 200 dollars a month to continue running with the same amount of quality, regularly updated mods they use, thats over 2 grand a year, put into perspective, thats just a thousand shy of my auto insurance annually is this really a model we should be encouraging for the community? where independant modders are making more off of the players than the developers making it themselves? and what happens if they adopt it too, and every update turns into a new vehicle dlc, or new map dlc, or paying another premium for the actual game once the career mode comes out, or any other horse-armour dlc derived nightmare you can think of
To me this is kind of a weird situation going on, like I'm sure you will release it on the forums but just asking for money for a mod that you even said yourself, that you wouldn't even make a custom engine or engine sound is kinda lame ngl. Same with no proof a reworked Jbeam or other parts that you could mod out or other parts that would come with the truck mod. Like you could probably do some like dumb downed version of the mod with like basic stuff like just the truck and light easy made addon parts or whatever, stuff that doesnt take much time or effort to make, and then the more complex stuff you did for the mod you could make a patreon exclusive, like custom color lights or off-road parts, just mostly time consuming parts should be available to the patrons. Cause having a free version of the mod to prove its pretty decent would give people an incentive to donate or become a patron cause they know the paid version is just overall better, but then again this could just open up Pandora's box with mods then this stuff could run ramped. But that's overall just my opinion so take it as you will lmao, good work from what I've seen though

And are you using a shrunk pre-facelift fascia Jbeam here, if the facelift one is already almost the correct shape? And did you edit the Jbeam of grille bars, headlights and turn signals?
