Hello! I have a question, and help if possible.
As the title says, I have horrible performance in BeamNG
On most maps, i have 60-70fps Maxed out settings, no dynamic reflections, mostly same FPS on lowest settings (maybe better by 5fps tops)
On Italy, I have 45-50fps on maxed out settings, like 55-60 on Lowest settings.
Spawning in traffic with 3 cars drops my fps by a LOT, on other maps from 60-70 to 30-40 and on Italy from 45-50 to 15-20fps.
My RAM usage hovers at around 70-75%
My CPU usage with no traffic is at 20%, with traffic 50-60%
My GPU usage at 20% with both traffic and no traffic.
Any idea why is the performance so low, but with such low utilization?
CPU: Intel Xeon X5650 2.6Ghz (stock)
GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1070Ti 8GB Factory OC'd version
    RAM: 14GB DDR3 1333Mhz
My temperatures are completely fine, 45c on the CPU, 55c on the GPU and 45c on the motherboard.
Game is on a SSD together with Windows 10 Enterprise x64.

Your cpu is horrible and your ram is slow. Your graphics card is great but the other components of your system hold back the entire operation.

No way to increase performance without upgrading?

Not really. Each game update makes it run better but you’re also using hardware from over a decade ago. It only goes so far

Look into overclocking your CPU. You should be able to hit around 4ghz depending on your cooling. It won't be a huge boost in performance but it will be something.

Generally it’s not really worth it especially for a beginner / with standard cooling

Yeah stock cpu coolers suck ass. Your PC will sound like a jet taking off 24/7 while you run the game.

    0.15 runs smoother than 0.23/0.24

Compare to other games/softwares BeamNG is less energy efficient or space efficient. When running other CPU-intensive software like 7-zip I get 75~95% CPU utilization at about 65℃, when playing BeamNG I get 30~55% CPU utilization at about 85℃

I can only confirm what the others been saying. Your ram won't hurt to be updated to minimum 16 gb, it helped me a lot going from 8 > 16 in BeamNG (ngl they should really change minimum requirement to 16.)

But also, your CPU is a very interesting choice..
Is there any specific reason you're using a server grade CPU? It's really not ment for gaming at all.
They are more expensive than the core equivalent since a lot of the price is also certifications, ECC (reliability,) and made to run 24/7.
All features a end-user would have no interest in, hence my question.

Seems like your main issue is the 12 year old CPU which is also a server CPU which I guess was the choice because someone was selling it cheap with a mod that allows it to run on consumer motherboards. And performance in BeamNG is heavily dependent on CPU power. I used to run it on an i5-4460 and running a benchmark scenario would result in single digit FPS. After upgrading to an i5-12400 that same benchmark ran in actually playable FPS. So unfortunately in your case you're limited by the ancient CPU and your only means of getting better FPS is to buy a new CPU, motherboard and RAM, because you won't be able to get reasonable performance with any drop-in upgrades on a platform that's over 10 years old.

I got this CPU because it was $10, and the motherboard was $80, needed something usable for little money (Yes, this was the best it could get, I also have a i7 920 in my storage), and there havent been any mods done to it as I have a Workstation motherboard aswell, not a "consumer" one.
Sadly I guess it is what it is... Will have to upgrade to a whole new platform :(

I tried OCing my CPU, havent gone past 3.5Ghz, but I didnt gain ANY improvements whatsoever with a 10c temp increase so it really isnt worth it. It was still cool (55c) as I have a decent cooler and not a stock Intel one, but no performance gains so I just reverted to stock.
I could take 1 2GB stick out and put a 4GB stick in to have 16GB total, but 1 4GB 1333Mhz stick is $20 over here, and I am in huge financial issues right now so no upgrades will be happening soon at all :p

Either way, thanks guys, I appreciate the help

@I_Nightie_I I actually have experience with playing the game with an X5650, albeit mine was OCed to 4.2 GHz. If you have a quality cooler this process is safe and easy, basically, just follow a guide to do so. I believe Tech Yes City has an X58 OC guide. I played with a GTX 960 and got slightly lower performance than you, on probably medium settings. The first thing you should do is most definitely upgrade to 16 or 24 gigs of RAM (24 because I know X58 boards typically have six RAM slots) and that should increase performance immensely. Your processor, especially when overclocked is still a surprisingly capable chip today, it just can't really be compared to a modern chip without looking really slow as our standards have raised significantly in the last half-decade. your GPU is a great match for BeamNG, and should be plenty capable of pretty high FPS basically everywhere on higher settings. Your move right now would most definitely be a RAM upgrade, that will increase performance greatly.

Also, I wouldn't pull any RAM out unless all of your slots are currently filled, matching RAM is less concerning than overall RAM capacity as far as I'm concerned. If you've got a 6 slot board with 2 gigs per slot then yeah, replacing a RAM stick would be the better option.

Ahh that makes sense, figured that was why you were using that cpu :)

Best of luck with the upgrade!
