On Hold High-End Shuttle Bus Upfit for Gavril H-Series

Don't want to leave y'all without an update so here's what I've been up to in my free time:

• Reworking exterior walls because I discovered misaligned vertices in the material preview (I didn't know how to use move vertices along normals yet when I made the original walls)
• Figured using solidify modifier is not the best idea for BeamNG as I don't see any vanilla models using it
• Will probably use a similar mesh construction as the vanilla city bus rather than trying to replicate that of an actual shuttle bus body for better deformation; behaviour and physics will be replicated in the jbeam

The front cap will also be reworked quite a bit as my initial approach honestly doesn't look too good upon closer inspection

 

Update on the rework situation: I think I need some help, particularly with the front cap polyflow, some corners that should be rounded, and the wheel arches. I'll make a thread in the mod support forum if I can't figure it out myself.

 

I don't know if that would help, but what about using the vanilla panel van model and jist edit to fit your shape, like, first mirroring the left side (since it has no cut out for the side doors), than "widening" the model and stretching where needed? If I knew how to model, that would be my approach, since the vanilla model is very good by itself, so editing it sounds "easier" than doing it from the beginning.

 

Thanks for the suggestion but the purpose of this mod is for me to learn how to make them from scratch at a larger scale

Suggestion: Maybe add a cutaway cab on the right side, like this

 

I thought about doing that but since I'm still fairly new to making mods from scratch, I thought the "full cab" style shuttle would be easier to start.

Also, an update for everyone else: I haven't abandoned it and I'm still poking away at it during my spare time. I am still struggling with the wheel arches and perfecting the front cap so help would be appreciated here (I made a post in the mod support forum but it seems to have gone unanswered). The status will still remain "on hold" until major progress has been made.

Oh that's cool, at where my mom works as a CNA they have one of those short shuttle busses.

 

It's not dead. I'm working on several mods at the moment with this being one of them but I only do this in my free time.

I will be including hospital/healthcare liveries just for you two

 

Thanks, I'd really like a shuttle bus upfit.
If I knew how to work blender and find the files for all the car parts I'd make a shuttle bus upfit and school bus upfit for the H-series.

good, I can't wait to see this finished! I just came back from a resort in Vermont, and I want a shuttle similar to the ones they had.

 

Yeah I really like the shuttle buses and school buses they convert vans into so I like that someone's making it without abandoning it unlike dummiesman who somewhat gave up on his project.

Update: got better at using blender and realised I made a lot of mistakes with this one so I'm starting over from scratch. Also, there will be "classic" and "modern" variants of the upfit to go with the pre-facelift and facelift vans.

 

Nice! This concept and side sliding doors for the H series were probably the things I were most excited about being added to the game someday.
