Slow performance with 3 cars

I've been playing beam quite a bit and has been working well. I can spawn an extra vehicle and it works ok but if I spawn a third the performance really drops to the point I can't driver and the menus take ages to appear. Also the italy map is unusable even with a single vehicle. Is this just a case of insufficient hardware? I have 4 racing sim frames with G25s so have had to do everything on the cheap

Specs are:
i5-4670
16GB
GTX1080

 

im pretty sure the cpu is the issue

at least something above an i5 should handle more than 2 cars

 

I'll try swapping the CPU from my main PC which is an i7-4790. It seems odd though that a higher CPU could handle traffic when mine can only do 2 cars

 

Beamng does 1 car per core, so you need more cores for more cars. And more powerful cores/threads will be able to handle harder to run vehicles.

 

Thanks for the reply. Should I not be able to do 3 cars? Presuming game itself needs a core. I have 4 cores at 3.8GHz.

How do people do traffic? Do they have newer 16 core AMDs?

One of the "cars" was the giant soccer ball, maybe that is harder to model than it looks?

 

It takes 1 car per thread, and each core has 2 threads. So you got 6 threads. But other processes, such as windows take threads too, which mean you might only have 1 or 2 threads free for beamng.

 

That should do the trick.
i5-4670 is bellow the official recommended requirements for running the game.
i7-4790 meets the recommended requirements.

 

Thanks for all the replies. I tried again tonight. It seems to go 1 car = 100fps, 2 = 60, 3 =50, 4=30. CPU seems to stay around 70-90% for all of them. I'll go through and disable as much windows crap as I can, swap the CPUs and see how that goes. I was also watching some youtube videos on how to improve performance, I'll try out some of those suggestions.

plenty of discussions mention it, i have a good laptop and it runs fine right up till theres more then 2 cars

 

Like i said it depends on how many threads are taken. If you'd have a threadripper with a fresh install of windows/linux you'd be able to get way more than 4 cars.

 

May the issue is with your cpu....
