With the model coming from Forza, I'm 99% sure that you cannot monetize this mod in any form, including charging for beta access...
Idk bro. It’s is what it is. I haven’t been contacted by beamng admins so i guess it isn’t against the rules. Sorry.
It's not beam's model, its turn 10/microsoft's model. You are charging for a mod using a model that is not yours, and that you do not have permission to use. You cannot charge for it in any form.
Not only but that they aren’t paying for the mod, they are paying for my patreon and access to all my mods early and my current private mods and in just supporting me as a whole. If you have an issue with it, then don’t say it here. It specifically says not to start stuff here. --- Post updated --- Yes it is Microsoft’s. But it’s also a public model you can just get from the game files.
I am not trying to start anything with you, I am simply pointing out that you are not allowed to monetize (including putting this mod behind a pay wall in any form) models that you do not have permission to use. Unless you have a written letter of permission from Microsoft themselves, you cannot use this model. I won't repeat this again.
Public model that you get from a game that you need to PAY and it they PAID for licence. You can't make money from T10 model if you don't get agreement or licence. But however it is your call, i am just interested if this mod is going to be free once it get finished ?
It’s kinda funny because the mod is being released for free when ever it’s ready on the forum. But as soon as I say it’s released for beta testing everyone gets all fussy because you have to pay. Get over it and please leave this post. Go target the other forum post that also use forza models. --- Post updated --- And instead of pestering me, you should just contact Microsoft. I don’t know what to tell you.
I’m not trying to get rude. I’m trying to state these facts because every time I make a post, everyone likes it. Then I say you have to pay for it to get it early if you’d like(or you can wait til release) then people just get upset.
Nobody is causing a fuss, you are simply not listening to us when we are trying to help you. We are pointing out an issue that you cannot legally put this mod behind a paywall, due to the fact it uses a forza model. Please stop being so stubborn and listen. There is no issue with you using the model, a lot of people have used forza models before and thats ok. What isn't ok is putting that model behind a paywall, as that model is not yours, neither is it free to use and free to monetize (what you would call "public"). It is illegal and Microsoft themselves have all rights to sue you for making that model paid (not that they would waste their time on you though). I'm suggesting you either make the beta public, or take down the paywall and make the beta private (suggested). And the reason why everyone is on at you about this now you made it paid is because of what I have mentioned above, I'm sure the mod is amazing and honestly it looks really good.
I'm aware, and that is the issue. Not because I dislike paid mods. Not because I dislike this mod. Purely because it is a legitimate legal issue with microsoft. The issue is between the mod author and microsoft, not me and the mod author.
The problem isn't charging money for mods, but rather charging money for work you do using assets that aren't yours. What would be fair is to either charge people for assets you made yourself (a scratch-made mod), or making this mod free or private altogether. Some other people have also done the same or even worse; I've seen someone trying to sell BeamNG mods made from stolen models for €16. No one is trying to argue, we're only trying to point out that what you're doing is possibly illegal.
@BaileyLSX5 I'm not trying to be annoying, but @SuperDuperViralThing is 100% right. Microsoft could sue you over this and win the suit, what you are doing is 100% illegal. Plus the model is not a publicly available model, you have to remember you paid for the game that contains the model. This means it is NOT a public model.
